Ella Langley’s “Choosin’ Texas” is so huge that it all but ensured that the songs that the singer-songwriter released immediately after that cut all became hits as well. Before delivering her sophomore album Dandelion, the rising country talent delivered a handful of promotional tunes, and each and every one of them became quick commercial successes on at least Billboard‘s country tallies, though many succeeded on various non-genre-specific rosters as well.
The second official single from the project, “Be Her,” has also turned out to be a career-defining smash, thanks at least in part to the continued success of “Choosin’ Texas.” Last week, Langley became only the second country musician to fill the highest two spaces on the Billboard Hot 100, the company’s ranking of the most popular tracks in the nation, as “Choosin’ Texas” held at No. 1 and “Be Her” rose to a new high of second place.
Neither of the superstar’s singles move an inch this frame, and that fact helps Langley break out of a tie with some of the biggest hitmakers of the past decade or so.
Ella Langley Passes Ariana, Mariah and The Weeknd
Last period, when “Be Her” reached No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100, Langley tied with seven other musicians by appearing in the loftiest pair of spaces on the chart for exactly one frame. Now that she’s managed the feat twice, she breaks that match and passes Bad Bunny, Mariah Carey, Future, Ariana Grande, Metro Boomin, Morgan Wallen and the Weeknd, all of whom have only ever seen their names sit at Nos. 1 and 2 simultaneously on a single occasion, according to Billboard.
Ella Langley Joins Akon and DaBaby
The music magazine notes that, including Langley, only three acts have sat at Nos. 1 and 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 twice – and only twice. Langley is the only female artist to do so, and she joins both Akon and DaBaby by doing so.
Ella Langley May Have to Step Aside Next Week
If “Choosin’ Texas” and “Be Her” remain at Nos. 1 and 2 next week, Langley will pass Akon and DaBaby and match 50 Cent, Ja Rule, Kendrick Lamar and Usher, who have appeared in those highly coveted positions in three separate chart weeks. While both of her singles are performing exceptionally well, there’s a high likelihood that Langley will have to step aside, either from one or perhaps both spaces.

When Billboard refreshes its charts in a few days, it seems probable that Drake will debut one of his dozens of new songs featured on his three albums, Iceman, Habibti and Maid of Honour, in the No. 1 spot on the busiest songs list in America. Drake could fill multiple slots within the top 10, and he could conceivably join Taylor Swift as the only act to claim the entirety of the highest region to himself.
“Choosin’ Texas” and “Be Her” Hold at Nos. 1 and 2 Together
The Billboard Hot 100 is one of three Billboard charts where “Choosin’ Texas” and “Be Her” sit side-by-side at Nos. 1 and 2, respectively. Langley accomplishes the same showing on both the Streaming Songs and Country Streaming Songs tallies as well.
