Netflix has scored a huge win with KPop Demon Hunters. The animated film, which centers around fictionalized K-pop groups and comes with a killer soundtrack, has ranked among the platform’s most popular titles since it arrived in late June. The album that accompanies the movie isn’t just a commercial success — it’s gaining momentum, which is a relatively rare feat for any piece of music connected to a visual project.

KPop Demon Hunters Jumps to No. 2

In its second week on the Billboard rankings, KPop Demon Hunters climbs on two of the four tallies where it makes its home. This time around, the soundtrack jumps from No. 10 to the runner-up spot on the Top Streaming Albums chart. It also ascends from No. 8 to third place on the Billboard 200.

Consumption Nearly Doubles

Overall consumption of KPop Demon Hunters almost doubled from its first week on the Billboard lists to its second. Luminate reports that in the past tracking period, the soundtrack moved 61,800 equivalent units. That’s up from 31,400 in the previous frame.

KPop Demon Hunters Holds at No. 1

KPop Demon Hunters doesn’t move on the Top Soundtracks tally, but that’s because it launched in first place, where it remains. The full-length only falls slightly on the Top Album Sales ranking, declining from No. 18 to No. 21. Interestingly, it slips even as sales grow by more than 31%, from 3,400 purchases to a little more than 4,400 pure sales.

A Hot 100 Invasion for KPop Demon Hunters

As consumption of the KPop Demon Hunters album grows, the songs featured on the full-length also become hits. A handful that appeared on the Billboard charts last week, including the handful that landed on the Hot 100, reach new peaks, while five tunes debut on the same list. The tracks are credited to various artists, including the made-up girl group and boy band from the movie, as well as the actual vocalists who lent their talents to the characters. All of them appear on multiple Billboard tallies at the moment, including hitting No. 1 on a handful of dance rankings.
