The feud between UFC President Dana White and former UFC heavyweight champion and current PFL star Francis Ngannou is as bitter as they come. White doesn’t hesitate to remind anyone whenever he’s asked, he doesn’t like Ngannou.

When Ngannou appeared on The Ariel Helwani Show and was asked about his previously stated desire to fight Jon Jones at the upcoming UFC White House card, the lineal heavyweight king didn’t sound optimistic about it happening.

White spoke to Mac Life later in the day and doubled down on his word. He never wants to work with Ngannou again. White also clarified the details around a previous confrontation at the UFC Performance Institute that was categorized as “physical” in an earlier account.

What Did Dana White Say About The Altercation With Ngannou?

The incident White keeps referencing reportedly took place years ago at UFC headquarters. According to White, Ngannou was upset about a missing post-fight bonus and had been making demands—including a private jet—around his title run against Stipe Miocic.

White initially brought up the confrontation on the Flagrant podcast, claiming Ngannou physically confronted him and UFC Chief Business Officer Hunter Campbell, grabbing them by the shirt in the office.

He framed it as proof that Ngannou isn’t the humble, language-barrier-navigating nice guy fans perceive him to be.

In his Mac Life interview, White clarified what he meant by “physical.”

“Let me be clear on something, too, when I say the physicality,” White said. “It’s not like Francis Ngannou came in here and threatened us or did anything like that. But as men, everybody who is a man knows there’s these situations with, you know, we’re in there and he’s telling me that ‘I deserve the $50,000. I want the $50,000.’ I said, ‘You’re not getting it.’ … I’m in there with them for however long we’re talking and I’m like, I’m done. I had another meeting.”

White continued, describing how Ngannou would spend entire days at UFC headquarters.

“So I started to walk out and he puts his hand on my chest, he says, ‘We’re not done talking yet.’ And I said, ‘Oh, we’re f****g done talking.’ It’s not like Francis Ngannou came in here and was, like, physically—that’s what went down. I tell you guys all the time, we’re in the f****g fight business. Sh*t happens.”

What Was White’s Message About The UFC White House Card?

When asked about Ngannou entertaining a potential Jones fight or appearance at the White House event, White made his position crystal clear. He said there was “nothing that made him happier” than letting PFL “get stuck” with Ngannou and described “throwing” him to PFL as one of his most satisfying business outcomes.

White stressed that the UFC is “done talking” about Francis and has no regrets about the split. He pointed to Jon Jones, Alex Pereira, Tom Aspinall, and others as options to headline the White House card instead.

The tone throughout was pointed. White painted himself as an early Ngannou supporter who soured as Francis’ demands and behavior escalated.

How Did Ngannou Respond?

Ngannou addressed all of this in his sit-down with Ariel Helwani, saying he’s “annoyed” and “disappointed” by how the relationship with White deteriorated. He refused to relitigate the incident in detail, but when pressed on whether he ever put his hands on White, Ngannou leaned on a simple point—the UFC offices are covered in cameras. If Dana believed his own story, he could just release the footage.

Ngannou emphasized that he’s tired of being dragged back into UFC drama and cast the fallout more as a disappointment than a blood feud from his side.

When I covered Ngannou’s response to the Jake Paul fight offer, he made it clear that respect matters to him. This latest chapter feels like an extension of that same stance.

Money can change many things, but because of the UFC’s success and Ngannou’s age (39), there probably isn’t enough time in the latter’s career to create enough water under the bridge. If White ever allowed Ngannou to return to the UFC, it would probably only be for him to have a less-than-favorable matchup.

If Ngannou loses to someone in the UFC, the promotion would then regain the distinction of controlling the lineal heavyweight title. Then again, White and the UFC could wait for someone to beat Ngannou in the PFL and they could subsequently attempt to lure that person to their promotion. Either way, the important but unofficial title would be back with the UFC.
