Director Johnny Depp’s Modì: Three Days on the Wing of Madness, starring Riccardo Scamarcio, Al Pacino and Stephen Graham, is new on digital streaming on Friday. Read on to find out where you can watch the film at home.
Modì: Three Days on the Wing of Madness opened in limited release domestically on Nov. 7. The official summary for the movie reads, “A seventy-two-hour whirlwind in the life of bohemian artist Amedeo Modigliani (Scamarcio), known as ‘Modi’ to his friends, follows a chaotic series of events through the streets of war-torn Paris in 1916.
“On the run from the police, the desire to end his career and leave the city is dismissed by fellow artists Maurice Utrillo (Bruno Gouery), Chaïm Soutine (Ryan McParland) and Modi’s muse, Beatrice Hastings (Antonia Desplat). Modi seeks advice from his art dealer and friend, Leopold Zborowski (Graham) — however, after a night of hallucinations, the chaos in Modi’s mind reaches a crescendo when faced with an American collector, Maurice Gangnat (Pacino), who has the power to change his life.”
Rated R, Modì: Three Days on the Wing of Madness is available on such digital platforms as Apple TV, Fandango at Home and Prime Video. The film has a digital purchase price of $14.99 and a rental price of $6.99 for a 48-hour period.
How Was Johnny Depp’s ‘Modì: Three Days on the Wing of Madness’ Received By Audiences And Critics?
The domestic box office for Modì: Three Days on the Wing of Madness is not available, but the film made more than $321,800 internationally, according to The Numbers. The film’s production budget before prints and advertising costs is not available.
Modì: Three Days on the Wing of Madness to date has earned a 47% “rotten” critics’ score on Rotten Tomatoes, based on 17 reviews. RT’s Critics Consensus, audience summary and Popcornmeter score are still pending.
Glenn Kenny of the New York Times is among the top critics on RT who gives Modì: Three Days on the Wing of Madness a “fresh” review, writing, “The energetic and arguably strenuous performance by the lead actor, Riccardo Scamarcio, is something of a flex, to be sure.”
Donald Clarke of the Irish Times praises Johnny Depp in his review summary on RT, writing, “The more it goes on, the clearer it becomes that, though Depp no doubt admires Modigliani’s work, his real passion here is for the eternally intoxicating fantasy of Parisian bohemia.”
Tim Robey of the Daily Telegraph (UK) is among the top critics on RT who gives the film a “rotten” score, writing, “Whatever kinship Depp may feel with this tortured, misunderstood, and regularly blotto artist is expressed, unfortunately, as a string of grueling clichés.”
Meanwhile, Peter Bradshaw of The Guardian praises Modi lead actor Riccardo Scamarcio in his review summary on RT, but other gives the film a “rotten” score, writing, “Scamarcio does his best and he is arguably the best actor for the job, but there is something rather shallow here.”
