The popcorn bucket created to help promote The Devil Wears Prada 2 has people eating their favorite movie theater concession in style in theaters.
Custom popcorn buckets have become all the rage in theaters in recent years, from the Dune: Part Two Sandworm popcorn vessel that was lampooned by Saturday Night Live to Nosferatu’s Gothic-styled sarcophagus popcorn tin. Film-themed popcorn buckets tend appear in greater frequency, though, during the summer moviegoing season , which traditionally kicks off in May (even though summer this year won’t officially arrive until June 21).
The movie that officially kicked off the summer movie season — Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway’s The Devil Wears Prada 2 — boasts perhaps the most fashionable bucket this year, with a red, handbag-like popcorn container. Unlike a real, luxury fashion handbag, though, the Prada 2 Handbag popcorn bucket is made out of plastic and includes handles, as well as a tag that includes The Devil Wears Prada 2’s title treatment and a “gold” shoe charm with a high heel shaped like a devil’s pitchfork.
The Prada 2 handbag popcorn bucket doesn’t appear to be exclusive to any one single theater chain, since they’ve already been available — and sold out — on AMC Theatres, Regal Cinemas and Cinemark Theaters’ online stores.
Collectors aren’t completely out of luck, though, since AMC, Regal and Cinemark have the Prada 2 Handbag popcorn bucket available for pre-order for $39.95 (not including tax and shipping) through May 13. Both theater chains expect the buckets to be available to ship anytime between Aug. 30 and Sept. 4.

‘The Devil Wears Prada 2’ Handbag Popcorn Buckets Are Big Online Auction Items
For fans who can’t wait until the end of summer to secure The Devil Wears Prada 2 Handbag popcorn bucket have the option to secure one on online auction sites but need to brace themselves to pay much more than snagging the item at retail.
In an eBay search on Friday for completed and sold listings for The Devil Wears Prada 2 Handbag popcorn buckets, the item has sold for as much as four times the amount they’re up for pre-order on AMC and Regal’s online stores.
In an auction completed on the site on April 30, the Prada 2 bucket sold for $224.00 (not including tax, but shipping was free), and many others have been sold in the $100 to $150 range (tax and shipping not included).
One sign that the mania over the Prada 2 Handbag popcorn buckets may be waning a bit is that some of the newer auction listings are between $40 and $100 with either “Buy it Now” or “Best Offer or Buy it Now” options.

The Devil Wears Prada 2 opened at No. 1 worldwide with a global box office tally of $233.6 million May 1-3.
