One of the more interesting players to evaluate in dynasty fantasy football right now is Garrett Wilson.

Below, we’ll look into his dynasty rankings among wide receivers and the overall landscape, before giving some actionable advice on what you should be doing with him.

What Should You Do With Garrett Wilson in Dynasty Fantasy Football?

From a first glance, it doesn’t seem that bad, and even as we dive into the profile of Wilson, it’s not egregious. However, Wilson has become a player that I’ve been actively looking to trade away in dynasty fantasy football.

The main argument in favor of Wilson is his talent. Wilson was drafted 10th overall back in 2022, and it’s not as if I don’t believe he’s a good football player.

At the same time, Wilson has never scored over 15 PPG (PPR), and he’s coming off a season where he played in just seven games due to an injury.

The injury isn’t my main concern, as that would belong to the quarterback play. It seems like every year Wilson is being held back from having an elite season for that reason.

My problem is that while Aaron Rodgers wasn’t elite in 2024, he was a bit better than most seem to remember. Keep in mind that Rodgers threw for 3,897 yards that season.

In 2024, Wilson was good but not great, scoring 14.8 PPG, despite drawing 154 targets. Wilson was playing alongside Davante Adams, but there weren’t many other notable names outside of that.

With the Jets not taking a quarterback outside of Cade Klubnik in the 2026 NFL draft, they’re likely to start Geno Smith. This past year, Smith threw for 3,025 yards, 19 touchdowns, and 17 interceptions, which was a big step back from his 2024 season.

At 35 years old, it wouldn’t surprise me if Smith took another step back, as last year did not look good at all.

The Jets could land a very good quarterback in the 2027 NFL draft, but it’s not a guarantee either. Even if the Jets do, that’s a year away, and Wilson will be stuck in his current situation for 2026.

For a player ranked this high, I’m expecting them to give me close to WR1 production right now, as his ranking would suggest.

The other reason I’m worried that Wilson won’t come close to WR1 production this year or even in the future is because of the added target competition.

Kenyon Sadiq and Omar Cooper Jr. were both round one picks in the 2026 NFL draft. Now, Wilson has two other very talented receivers he’s going to have to compete with for targets.

I’m not sure we’re going to see Wilson get close to 150 targets again, which is what helped propel his career-best 2024 season.

At the end of the day, these dynasty fantasy football rankings for Wilson are understandable because I’m able to acknowledge his upside. However, the situation around Wilson comes with more risk than I would like, and it makes sense to trade him away.
