Ella Langley Matches Two Of Country Music’s Longest-Running No. 1 Hits

Ella Langley’s “Choosin’ Texas” appears to be the biggest hit in America of 2026 in nearly every respect. The track rose to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in February, and since then it has led the way more often than not – though the singer has been forced to step aside as tunes by Bad Bunny, Taylor Swift, Bruno Mars, BTS and Olivia Rodrigo have all taken turns running the show, but only for short stints.

Over on the Hot Country Songs chart, “Choosin’ Texas” has proved unbeatable for months. As Langley’s career-making smash leads the ranking once more, it advances on the list of the longest-running rulers of all time, tying with two relatively recent blockbusters.

Ella Langley’s “Choosin’ Texas” Holds at No. 1

“Choosin’ Texas” is steady atop the Hot Country Songs chart, Billboard‘s ranking of the most-consumed tracks in that one style throughout the nation. The tally, like all that begin with the word “Hot,” uses a methodology that factors in sales, streams and radio airplay. “Choosin’ Texas” has spent 29 weeks on the list, and 24 of those have been on the throne.

“Choosin’ Texas” Ties “Fancy Like” and “Cruise”

As “Choosin’ Texas” reaches 24 weeks in charge of the Hot Country Songs chart, it ties with a pair of wins as the sixth-longest-running No. 1s of all time. Langley is now on the same level as “Fancy Like” by Walker Hayes and “Cruise” by Florida Georgia Line. Both of those tracks ended their command after 24 frames, but Langley may very well continue her domination for at least another turn, if not several more.

Ella Langley Could Soon Match Morgan Wallen

If “Choosin’ Texas” keeps at No. 1 on next week’s Hot Country Songs chart – which seems highly likely – it will tie with Morgan Wallen’s “Last Night” as the fifth-longest-leading single in the roster’s decades-long history. In a small bit of coincidence, Langley and Wallen appear inside the top 10, and not far from No. 1 together. Their collaboration “I Can’t Love You Anymore” debuted in third place last frame, and it keeps in that position. Two tracks by Langley – the aforementioned “Choosin’ Texas” and its follow-up “Be Her” – block the team-up with Wallen from rising to the summit as they hold Nos. 1 and 2, respectively.

Ella Langley May Never Catch Up to the All-Time Leaders

“Choosin’ Texas” is so successful that it may pass Wallen’s “Last Night” and continue to advance on the ranking of the all-time greatest No. 1s in the tenure of the Hot Country Songs chart, though it seems unlikely that it will challenge the all-time ruler, as that record may never be matched. Bebe Rexha and Florida Georgia Line kept “Meant to Be” atop the country-only tally for 50 weeks between 2017 and 2018. The second-longest-running ruler ever is “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” by Shaboozey, which managed 45 turns at the summit. Sam Hunt’s “Body Like a Back Road” and “I Hope” by Gabby Barrett topped the roster for 34 and 27 weeks, respectively. “Choosin’ Texas” could easily pass Barrett’s biggest win, but beyond that, its trajectory is difficult to predict.

“Choosin’ Texas” Leads Half a Dozen Lists

“Choosin’ Texas” currently leads the way on half a dozen Billboard-published charts. In addition to the Hot Country Songs tally, the cut is also steady atop the Billboard Hot 100, which is compiled in the same manner, except all genres are included. The tune similarly tops the Streaming Songs, Digital Song Sales, Country Streaming Songs and Country Digital Song Sales rankings at the same time. “Choosin’ Texas” advances to new peaks on all three pop radio lists and the Billboard Global Excl. U.S., as people all around the world continue to fall in love with Langley’s smash.
