Madonna’s “Bring Your Love” becomes her first single from one of her own albums to reach the Billboard Hot 100 in more than a decade. For decades, whenever Madonna promoted a new album, she was guaranteed to score at least one, if not several hits on the Billboard Hot 100, the chart company’s most competitive songs list. For much of her career, the icon would send new singles straight into the top 10, and she claims one of the largest accumulations of No. 1s of all time to this day.
As is the case with all artists of any genre, that period in her career waned, and Madonna’s last several albums have struggled to produce songs that land in any space on the Billboard Hot 100. Her most recent set, Madame X, became a rare miss, as none of the tunes pushed from the project carved out space on the chart, and it seemed to mark an end to her time landing on the list.
Later this summer, the singer will release Confessions II, the follow-up to her Grammy-winning Confessions on a Dance Floor. Lead single “Bring Your Love,” a collaboration with Sabrina Carpenter, manages a feat that Madonna hasn’t accomplished in more than a decade.
Madonna Debuts “Bring Your Love” on the Billboard Hot 100
After its first full tracking frame of availability finished, “Bring Your Love” performed well enough to debut on eight Billboard charts. This week, Madonna and Carpenter start their collaboration at No. 74 on the Billboard Hot 100, and the track performs significantly better when looking at lists that are specific to pop and dance music.
It’s Been a Decade Since Madonna Has Managed This Feat
“Bring Your Love” is the first single from a Madonna album to debut on the Billboard Hot 100 in more than 10 years. Back in 2015, “Bitch I’m Madonna,” one of several singles from Rebel Heart, reached No. 84 on the tally, thanks in part to a feature by Nicki Minaj. None of the other tunes pushed as promotional cuts from that set, including “Living for Love,” “Ghosttown” and “Hold Tight,” nor the singles from Madonna’s next album, Madame X, appeared on the chart.
“Bring Your Love” Beats “Bitch I’m Madonna”
“Bring Your Love” ranks exactly 10 spaces higher than where “Bitch I’m Madonna” peaked. The superstar collab marks Madonna’s highest-rising song from one of her albums since 2012. That year, “Give Me All Your Luvin’,” the lead song from MDNA, soared all the way to No. 10, earning the icon, as well as Minaj and M.I.A., another placement within that competitive space. The three performed the track during the Super Bowl, which played a major role in its ascent.
Madonna Last Scored on the Chart With “Popular”
While none of Madonna’s recent albums have scored a higher-rising hit than Confessions II‘s “Bring Your Love,” it’s only been a few years since Madonna was last credited on a smash on the Billboard Hot 100. In 2023, she joined the Weeknd and Playboi Carti on “Popular,” though that track has never been attached to one of her own full-lengths. Instead, it was created for the Weeknd’s TV series The Idol, and after it pushed all the way to No. 43, the tune was added to the deluxe edition of the Canadian superstar’s greatest hits compilation, The Highlights.
“Bring Your Love” Launches on Several Rankings
Of the nine Billboard-published rankings where “Bring Your Love” appears, the song only manages to launch in lower positions on the worldwide rankings. “Bring Your Love” starts at No. 91 on the Billboard Global 200 and No. 97 on the Billboard Global Excl. U.S.
The smash is a quick top 10 winner on both the Digital Song Sales and Hot Dance/Pop Songs charts, where it opens at No. 7. “Bring Your Love” rockets from No. 9, where it debuted last frame, to No. 1 on the Dance Digital Song Sales roster, and it narrowly misses out on the uppermost tier on the Dance Streaming Songs chart. Instead, the collaboration begins its time at No. 11.
