Construction of the Peace Park Museum Begins at Ground Zero Kuta

After years full of polemics and debates, a mega project at the site of the darkest humanitarian tragedy in Bali has finally officially begun. The construction contract for the Bali Peace Park Museum, located right in front of Ground Zero Kuta, has been signed with a fantastic budget value: reaching IDR 131 billion!

This construction has triggered mixed reactions from the public. On one hand, this project is touted as an educational space for future generations. However, on the other hand, the budget of hundreds of billions of rupiah from an annual budget of hundreds of billions of rupiah from the 2026 APBD (Regional Budget) raises critical questions: Is the urgency of building such a magnificent building appropriate amidst a public economic situation that is not yet fully stable?

” The 2002 Bali bombing monument for this has become a powerful reminder symbol for the world. Now, with the addition of a magnificent museum worth hundreds of billions in front of it, will this place truly and purely become a center for world peace, or will it instead blur the sacredness of the Ground Zero reflection space itself?”
