For those attempting to attend the 2026 FIFA World Cup in person, the tournament will easily be the priciest in the competition’s history. But ironically, for American viewers who just want to watch on TV, it will be the most accessible World Cup ever played, and by a considerable margin.
As long as you know your options, you should be able to watch the entire 2026 World Cup for what you might spend on dinner for two at a casual sit-down restaurant. And many Americans won’t need to spend a dime to get more than their fill of the world’s largest sporting event.
Here are your cheapest 2026 World Cup TV and streaming options.
FOX and Telemundo Over The Air
If you have a digital antenna, you probably have access to all the games you want to see.
Fox will show 70 of 104 tournament matches on network television, and Spanish-language Telemundo will show 92 matches on over-the-air television in markets where it’s available.
And even if you don’t currently have a digital antenna, buying one for your TV before the tournament starts just might be cheaper than any streaming app you can sign up for.
If you live within 20 miles of a Fox or Telemundo tower and your TV is close to a window or an exterior wall, you should be able to pick up a crystal clear signal for all 70 Fox or 92 Telemundo World Cup broadcasts with a basic model that runs somewhere between $9-15.
Even if you need something more expensive to pick up the signal because of your TV location or you live further from a tower, remember that the antenna is a one-time cost that may come in more useful for future network TV needs.
Peacock’s Premier Pricepoint
But let’s say you need to make sure you can see every single match and not just the bigger games. Maybe you’re obsessive and have an extremely understanding boss and family. Maybe you’re a big fan of James Rodriguez (Colombia), Achraf Hakimi (Morocco), Mo Salah (Egypt) or Darwin Núñez (Uruguay), all of whom play only one of their three group matches on big Fox.
Or maybe you’re just a Premier League fan who already has a Peacock subscription to watch all the EPL matches not shown on USA Network or NBC.
No matter the reason, if you don’t mind watching matches En Español, the cheapest way to access live video of all 104 World Cup telecasts is through the NBC-owned platform, which will be the streaming conduit for all matches also shown on TV via Telemundo and Universo.
At $12.99 per month, Peacock costs only 65% of the cheapest option to stream every game in English. And if you’re a new soccer viewer who falls in love with the beautiful game, then you’ll already have one of the most important subscriptions for watching the world’s most popular domestic league when it resumes in August.
Fox One Is A Real One
Meanwhile, if you strongly prefer watching in English, you still won’t have to shell for the kind of live TV bundle that you would have for the 2022 World Cup or the 2024 European Championship and Copa America.
There’s nothing wrong with those bundles if you also want other live TV. But if you sincerely only want to watch the World Cup in English, the more affordable option is the new Fox One app, which is the broadcaster’s answer to NBC’s relationship with Peacock or CBS’s utilization of Paramount+.
At $19.99 a month, the overall cost of $39.98 for the whole tournament would be less than half of what you would pay for even one month of YouTubeTV or most similar bundle apps. That’s a saving in the neighborhood of 75% from one tournament ago.
Get Creative
Maybe the biggest thing to remember is you don’t have to be wedded to one option for the entire tournament.
For example, consider cutting off your Peacock or Fox One subscription off after one month, because while you would miss some earlier round matches relying only on broadcasts over the air, you won’t miss anything from the round of 16 onward. Or maybe consider syncing up Peacock’s cheaper streaming service with Fox’s free commentary audio, which is available on iHeart Radio.
And think about places you might be able to watch games in public beyond sports bars where your bill for one night is likely to meet or exceed the cost of a month of streaming.
From the treadmills at your gym, to the student center lounges at your local college, to official and unofficial free fan celebrations being held all over the country, if there’s a will to watch a World Cup game cheaply this summer, there’s a way.
