The hit Netflix series Adolescence — starring Stephen Graham and Owen Cooper — earned several major nods at the 2025 Primetime Emmy Award nominations Tuesday, including Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series.
Adolescence will face off in the Emmys’ Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series category against Black Mirror, Dying for Sex, Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story and The Penguin.
Adolescence — which consists of four episodes that are each played out over one real-time camera shot — was released on Netflix on March 13. A story about a young teen (Cooper) accused of killing a classmate, Adolescence is the second-most watched series in the history of the streamer behind Wednesday Season 1 with 142.6 million views, which equates to 546.5 million viewing hours.
Actors Brenda Song and Harvey Guillén presented the main nominations for the 2025 Primetime Emmy Awards on Tuesday in an online announcment from the Television Academy.
Adolescence scored 13 nominations overall. In addition to Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series, Adolescence earned an Outstanding Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie nomination for Graham.
Cooper and Ashley Walters each were nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie, while Erin Doherty and Christine Tremarco received nominations for Outstanding Supporting Actress in the same category.

What Else Did ‘Adolescence’ Receive Emmy Nominations For?
In addition to its 2025 Primetime Emmy Award nominations for producing and acting, Adolescence earned an Outstanding Directing for a Limited Anthology Series or a Movie nomination for Phillip Bartini, while Jack Thorne and Stephen Graham were nominated for Outstanding Writing in the same category.
In the Emmy Awards’ technical races, Adolescence received nominations in the Limited Anthology Series or a Movie category for Outstanding Casting, Outstanding Cinematography, Outstanding Contemporary Costumes, Outstanding Sound Mixing and Outstanding Sound Editing.
The 2025 Primetime Emmy Awards will be handed out at the Creative Arts Emmy Awards and Governors Gala on Sept. 6 and 7, which will be followed by the televised Primetime Emmys celebration on Sept. 14.
The Engineering, Science & Technology Emmy Awards will be handed out on Oct. 14.
