This story is part of Forbes’ coverage of Taiwan’s Richest 2026. See the full list here.

The red-hot November IPO of AI chip-testing equipment maker Hon. Precision, which raised a total of NT$35 billion ($1.1 billion), put chairman Hsieh Wen-Ta on the ranking of Taiwan’s richest for the first time with a $7.1 billion fortune. Since getting listed at an 81% premium to the IPO price, shares of the company have more than doubled.

Hon. Precision specializes in test handlers—equipment that moves and sorts chips during the final testing process—and has nearly a one-third global market share. Its major clients include semiconductor heavyweights TSMC and Nvidia, which utilize the company’s advanced handlers to test increasingly complex chips.

In 2025 nearly three-quarters of Hon. Precision’s orders were for AI and high-performance computing applications, helping revenue and net profit more than double to NT$30.3 billion and NT$12.4 billion, respectively. The company aims to increase annual capacity by 40% this year to around 3,000 units and is building a new factory due to open in 2028.

Hsieh, who at No. 12 is the richest among eight newcomers this year, has a degree in electronic engineering from Taipei Industrial College (now National Taipei University of Technology). He spent the 1990s working in Taiwan’s semiconductor-equipment industry before launching Hon. Precision’s predecessor, Hon. Technology, in 1999 with a group of engineers.
