Haeran Ryu has won the 2026 KPMG Women’s PGA Championship at Hazeltine National Golf Club in Chaska, MN. Ryu, the 25 year old from South Korea, finished with a score of -13 to secure victory. Ryu’s -13 finish put her two shots clear of Ina Yoon, who all finished in solo second place at -11.
Ryu’s victory, which comes in her fourth PGA Championship start, is her first major championship and fourth LPGA Tour victory. Her fourth year on tour, Ryu now has a win in each of her first four seasons, and is the sixth different Korean player to win the Women’s PGA Championship since 2015.
Ryu opened the week with a one over par 73, putting her ten strokes behind the leader. Ryu then followed up with rounds of 64, 68, and 70, becoming the first major winner to ever come back from ten-plus shots after the first round to win.
Playing in the final group with Ina Yoon and Brooke Henderson, Ryu’s day got off to a slow start with one birdie but three bogeys through the first five holes after waiting for a 3 hour weather delay as storms moved through the area. However, she would turn things around making four additional birdies to go even through the front nine and two-under on the back nine. Ryu’s final round 70 would be enough to secure her the two-stroke victory.
While Ryu would ultimately hoist the trophy, the leaderboard ran deep with LPGA star power. Jeeno Thitikul and Nelly Korda finished in a tie for 8th along with Sei Young Kim, and A Lim Kim. Korda made a run at the lead until getting derailed on the par-4 sixteenth hole after her tee shot found the right rough. Korda lost her approach shot to the right, finding the water hazard that surrounds the 16th green resulting in a double bogey. Korda would finish the last two holes with pars, resulting in a one-over 73.
Some notable players who did not make the cut include Charley Hull, Lottie Woad, and Hannah Green. Notably, Green won the PGA Championship the last time it was hosted at Hazeltine National Golf Club in 2019.
With her win, Ryu takes home a winners check of $1,950,000 and 650 points in the Race to the CME Globe.
