Has Enola Holmes 4 Been Confirmed?

No. Netflix has not announced a fourth Enola Holmes film. Yet. That is of course not unusual at this stage since Netflix’s renewal playbook is consistent across its catalogue; the platform waits for streaming data to come in before making franchise decisions, which typically takes a minimum of seven days from release.

What The Numbers Say About Its Chances

The franchise’s viewership trajectory, however, does make a fourth film commercially plausible. The first Enola Holmes film arrived in the thick of the pandemic and logged 1.165 billion minutes of viewing in its debut week alone, landing at number two on the Nielsen streaming chart.

The sequel outperformed it with 64 million hours streamed in its first three days on the platform, enough to push it to the top of Netflix’s global weekly chart. As a franchise, Enola Holmes currently holds a 91% and 93% on Rotten Tomatoes for the first and second films respectively. From a renewal logic, the numbers are certainly there.

What Makes Enola Holmes 3 Different From The First Two

Enola Holmes 3 is directed by Philip Barantini, fresh off the tremendous success of hit one-take crime drama Adolescence, making this the first film in the series not directed by Harry Bradbeer. According to Deadline, Barantini’s pitch for the third film was darker in tone, explaining that the third installment would do “for the franchise what Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban did for the Harry Potter series.” When put that way as a tonal turning point, it could mean there is more story left to tell, albeit in a darker vein.

The film also introduces Himesh Patel as Dr. John Watson alongside the returning cast of Millie Bobby Brown as Enola, Henry Cavill as Sherlock, Louis Partridge as Lord Tewkesbury and Helena Bonham Carter as Eudoria Holmes, a roster that would need to reassemble for any fourth instalment.

Enola Holmes, The Original Book Series

The Enola Holmes films are based on Nancy Springer’s ten-book mystery series, which she created in 2006. The first film adapted the first book, The Case of the Missing Marquess. The second adapted elements of the second and third books. A fourth film would theoretically draw from the remaining books in the series, giving Netflix considerable source material to work with if it chooses to continue.

Does Enola Holmes 4 Have An End Credits Scene?

Spoiler alert!

No, the film does not have an end credits scene. If you’ve watched already, you will know the movie ends with Enola and Earnest (a fitting first name for the very sincere former Lord Tewksbury) finally getting married, Enola splashing water in the camera’s face as they frolic in the sea.

The camera goes underwater to show the sunken ship from earlier, named ‘Adeline’s Wrath’, and we cut to black with no cliffhanger or foreboding lurkers. Unlike the other two movies, the potential for more is far less obvious with this ending, I’m afraid.

There’s also the matter of Enola saying “every good story ends with a wedding,” which could mean either the story of this specific movie, or just Enola’s story in general. I’m hoping, especially accounting for her feminist leanings, that the former is true.

When Will We Know If There’s Another Enola Holmes?

Netflix’s standard timeline for renewal decisions on major films runs four to eight weeks after release, based on the platform’s pattern with comparable franchises. If Enola Holmes 3 performs at the level its predecessors did, an announcement could come as early as August 2026.

Millie Bobby Brown has executive produced this instalment as well, along with her husband Jake Bongiovi. Considering the public impression that this franchise is dear to her heart and that she has some say in whether it continues does add points for a potential Enola Holmes 4, but we’ll just have to wait and see, won’t we.
