FC Barcelona has offered Valencia star Javi Guerra a six-year contract to join it according to SPORT and PlazaDeportiva, citing anonymous sources.

Guerra is a Valencia youth academy product that has made 118 Spanish top flight appearances for the club of his life, while also being capped once by the senior national team in 2026.

Barça Sporting Director Deco admires the 23-year-old, who covers every blade of grass on the pitch as a box-to-box midfielder while being good with both feet.

Guerra also has great physical attributes, allowing him to get into attacking positions with ease and often score goals.

He netted Valencia’s equaliser against the Blaugrana on the last day of the season at the Mestalla.

Canceling out Robert Lewandowski’s opener, in the Pole’s final match for the Catalans, Valencia then went on to win 3-1 with Barça already having the title wrapped up.

FC Barcelona will have to pounce on a release clause to land Javi Guerra

Guerra has a contract until mid-2029 and previously boasted a $114 million (€100 million) release clause.

With his latest renewal, however, that sum has fallen. In July it rises to $45 million (€40 million), and then $68.5 million (€60 million) in the last weeks of the open summer transfer market come late August.

At Barça, however, they understand that the figure can be brought down by offering players in a part exchange deal, with fellow Valencia academy product Ferran Torres and Marc Casado good candidates for this.

What is more likely however is that Guerra pushes an exit by putting pressure on Valencia to let him leave.

Guerra’s agents have already been in the Catalan capital to touch bases with Deco. At the moment, though, the interior isn’t Barça’s number one priority.

That’s Julian Alvarez, who has reportedly agreed to join Barça for five years. His price tag quoted as high as $171 million (€150 million) is a major stumbling block, however, raised by a disruptive bid for that amount from Real Madrid.

Squad planning is also an issue at FC Barcelona. With options such as Frenkie de Jong, Gavi, Pedri and others at his disposal, Hansi Flick doesn’t really need another midfielder such as Guerra.
