Most pop songs, even successful ones that reach the Billboard charts, usually only enjoy a lifespan of a few weeks, or perhaps several months if they’re especially popular. The masses don’t hear about hundreds, if not thousands, of tunes pushed by well-known artists that come and go with little to no notice each year. Only an extremely small number of singles manage to live on rankings for a long time after they first become hits, as the public can’t seem to get enough of them.
One of the most recent examples of a pop smash that may never completely drift away is “Ordinary” by Alex Warren. The former TikTok influencer and now Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter had already developed a fan base with his Ed Sheeran-like, acoustic-led pop cuts, but it wasn’t until “Ordinary” that he became a certified superstar.
That song dropped in February 2025, and as July 2026 begins, “Ordinary” continues to lead one roster published by Billboard. As Warren’s biggest win earns another stay at the summit on a radio tally, it ties one of the most popular songs of all time.
Alex Warren’s “Ordinary” Reaches 35 Weeks at No. 1
Warren’s “Ordinary” has now lived on the Adult Contemporary chart for a milestone 60 weeks. The tally ranks the songs that rack up the largest total number of audience impressions across all radio stations in the United States that play adult contemporary music – a lighter, softer pop subgenre. As of this frame, “Ordinary” has dominated for a landmark 35 weeks.
“Ordinary” Ties “Blinding Lights”
“Ordinary” is now tied as the fourth-longest-running No. 1 in the history of Billboard‘s Adult Contemporary chart. As it advances to 35 weeks in the penthouse, “Ordinary” matches with the Weeknd’s “Blinding Lights.” That cross-genre cut began its streak in the highest space in the fall of 2020.
Alex Warren Could Pass the Weeknd in Days
“Ordinary” may very well stay at No. 1 on the Adult Contemporary chart when Billboard refreshes the tally in just a few days. If that turns out to be the case, Warren will break his newly-established match with the Weeknd and move up again on the ranking of the longest-running rulers of all time. Maroon 5’s “Girls Like You,” which benefited immensely from a remix featuring Cardi B, spent 36 weeks running the show on the Adult Contemporary rundown, starting in late 2018, and it may soon be tied with “Ordinary.”
Miley Cyrus Still Holds the All-Time Record
Two tracks have commanded the Adult Contemporary chart for longer than “Girls Like You,” “Blinding Lights” and “Ordinary.” Miley Cyrus reset the all-time record earlier this decade with “Flowers,” her Grammy-winning smash. That track is months ahead of every other tune, as it led the way for 57 nonconsecutive frames. “Lose Control” by Teddy Swims, which hit the top spot more than a year after “Flowers,” earned 49 moments inside the uppermost rung.
Alex Warren Charts Two Hits This Week
Warren scores two hits on this week’s Adult Contemporary chart. As “Ordinary” remains unmoved at No. 1, his more recent single, “Fever Dream,” returns to the tally, earning its fourth stay. “Fever Dream” reaches a new high of No. 29 as it bounds back in, tying “On My Mind,” Warren’s team-up with Blackpink singer Rosé, as his lowest-peaking track on the roster.
