One of the larger success stories of the past few months on Netflix has been I Will Find You, the service’s latest Harlan Coben novel adaptation. It has performed better than some we’ve seen in the past, though it’s not quite setting any records. I Will Find You has held onto the #1 spot for a while, but it has just been dethroned by a new series.
That would be Worst Neighbor Ever, the True Crime reality series that has taken over the #1 spot. I thought it sounded familiar, but I was surprised to see it only had one season. But I was thinking of Worst Roommate Ever, a sibling program that has had two seasons, the last of which aired in 2024. It is also not to be confused with The Perfect Neighbor, the 2025 film documentary on Netflix about a woman who kept calling the police on local kids before finally killing a neighbor. It is one of the best-reviewed movies in Netflix history with a 99% Rotten Tomatoes score across 99 reviews. It might actually be the highest.
Worst Neighbor Ever is not about that, but rather is a series of four episodes chronicling four different instances of bad neighbors. That includes heated feuds, missing persons and even an explosion. Some of this is interviews with those involved, others are re-enactments using animation. It looks a bit like King of the Hill, if you ask me.
A not-so-great story on the Netflix Top 10 list is what’s happened to Avatar: The Last Airbender. Season 2 of the expensive show never reached #1 on the US top 10 list and is already down to #4, never passing I Will Find You. The most recent numbers coming in have it dropping nearly 60% in viewership since season 1 aired 2.5 years ago, that gap maybe having quite a lot to do with it. It will not be canceled, however, as it was previously double-renewed for seasons 2 and 3 when the first season was more of a hit. And that will at least conclude the three-book adaptation of the original.
Like all other Harlan Coben projects, I Will Find You is one book, one set of characters, so it will not get a second season. Rather, Netflix will move on to the next adaptation as part of its long-running deal with the author that has worked out extremely well for both parties. Upcoming projects include an English-language version of The Woods and a Myron Bolitar book series adaptation, where that may finally be an ongoing show, if it catches on. Given how Coben’s adaptations have done, that seems likely.
