While most of the Western entertainment world was attending FIFA matches, Wimbledon or Taylor Swift’s wedding, Harry Styles was breaking a record at Wembley Stadium this weekend, and making audiences cry while he was at it.

Harry Styles Breaks A Wembley Record

The 12-night residency, part of Styles’ ‘Together, Together’ Tour in support of his fourth studio album Kiss All The Time, Disco Occasionally, released in March 2026, officially surpassed Coldplay’s previous record of 10 Wembley shows in a single calendar year, making Styles the artist with the most performances at the venue in a single year. Instead of a traditional city-to-city world tour, the ‘Together, Together’ Tour is built around extended residencies in seven markets.

His London residency has led to several hits in his catalog resurging on the charts. Following London, Styles moves to South America for a 10-night residency spanning São Paulo and Mexico City.

In a surprise appearance, Styles brought out his sister Gemma, who walked straight into a hug before telling the crowd, “This is not somewhere I ever wanted to be,” referring to her preference against the spotlight.

“My little brother is about to finish a record breaking 12 nights at Wembley,” she continued to massive applause. “I don’t think of you like [gestures] this in day to day life. I think of you as a brother, as an uncle, a best friend. And seeing the incredible community that has formed around you is just indescribable.”

She thanked everyone who had been with her brother over the last 12 days and 16 years, getting emotional as she recalled dropping him off for his audition just outside of Wembley Stadium. “I’m not just proud because you’ve done things like this which nobody has, I’m proud of who you are and who you allow others to be.”

What Harry Styles Said About One Direction At Wembley

Speaking to the sold-out crowd of about 80,000 fans on the final night, Styles paid tribute to the four boys with whom he launched his career.

At one point in the night, he took some time to tell the audience what it meant for him to be at Wembley. “Sixteen years ago my sister brought me down to London for the very first time, and she brought me just outside of this building right next door to do an X Factor audition,” said Styles.

“Just outside of this building, right next door, I was put into a band that changed my life. And as I drive through this area, there is nothing that doesn’t flood me with memories from that time and the years since then.”

Later, he named his band mates specifically.

“I wouldn’t be on this stage if it wasn’t for four friends of mine that were a massive part of this journey,” he said as the crowd swelled into a roar. “I want to thank Niall, Louis, Zayn and my dear friend Liam, these nights, and everything that I learned in this time, the friendship, everything, none of this would be possible. I wouldn’t be here without you. Thank you so much.”

Who One Direction Were

Styles was just 16 when One Direction was formed on The X Factor UK in 2010 alongside Niall Horan, Louis Tomlinson, Zayn Malik, and Liam Payne, after the five were individually eliminated and reconstituted as a group by judge Nicole Scherzinger and mentor Simon Cowell. They finished third in the competition and were signed to Cowell’s Syco Records.

Soon after, they set a Guinness World Record for the first group to have their first three albums top the Billboard 200 in their opening week. Their ‘Where We Are’ Tour became the highest-grossing concert tour of the year, grossing $290 million in ticket sales. In 2015, the band beat the Beatles’ record as they achieved their fifth Top 10 debut on the Billboard Hot 100. By the time they went on hiatus, the group had sold an approximate 70 million records worldwide.

Zayn Malik departed the group in March 2015. The remaining four members released one final album, Made in the A.M., before announcing an indefinite hiatus in 2016, one that remains ongoing.

Tragedy struck the One Direction legacy when Liam Payne died in October 2024 after falling from a hotel balcony in Buenos Aires. He was 31.

Harry Styles Since One Direction

Styles launched his solo career in 2017 and has since released four studio albums. Fine Line, his sophomore album, recently reached 250 weeks on the U.K.’s Official Albums chart. His third album Harry’s House won Album of the Year at the 2023 Grammy Awards.

Outside of music, his film credits include Christopher Nolan’s Dunkirk (2017), a cameo as Eros in Marvel’s Eternals (2021), Don’t Worry Darling (2022), and My Policeman (2022).

The ‘Together, Together Tour’, which produced the record-breaking Wembley residency, is Harry Styles’ most ambitious live undertaking so far.
