STEAM CORNERS, Ohio — Christian Lundgaard and Nolan Siegel have been granted permission by Arrow McLaren to speak to other IndyCar teams beginning Sunday, although both remain under contract to the team for the remainder of the season.
A team source said Arrow McLaren wanted to give both drivers time to explore other options, to be fair to them and get into the market while IndyCar seats are available.
On Friday, Lundgaard said he was not allowed to talk to other teams at that time because of his contract, but that clause has since been waived. It also falls in line with the expected announcement that both Scott Dixon and Felix Rosenqvist will join Pato O’Ward at Arrow McLaren beginning in 2027.
That announcement is expected soon.
Lundgaard starts on the pole for Sunday’s Honda Indy 200 at Mid-Ohio in the No. 7 Chevrolet. Siegel starts 14th in the No. 6 Arrow McLaren Chevrolet.
How Lundgaard And Siegel Got To This Position
Team owner Chip Ganassi announced on July 2 that Dixon had informed the team he was leaving at the end of this season. Team owner Michael Shank announced on June 24 Rosenqvist, who won this year’s Indianapolis 500, was departing from Meyer Shank Racing.
Lundgaard could be the leading option at the moment for the No. 9 PNC Bank Honda that Dixon is driving at CGR. Siegel has been mentioned as a possibility at Juncos Hollinger Racing.
