Ariana Grande’s New Single Ties As The Longest-Running No. 1 Of Her Career

Since Billboard introduced its two worldwide charts – the Billboard Global 200 and Billboard Global Excl. U.S. – in 2020, Ariana Grande has racked up five No. 1s on the completely worldwide roster (the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. shows what the rest of the planet is listening to during any given tracking period). That figure is just under 10% of the 52 tunes by the Grammy-winning pop singer that have landed on the Billboard Global 200, and more than half of her top 10s.

Last month, Grande scored another champion with “Hate That I Made You Love Me,” which introduces her upcoming album Petal. As her latest smash finds its way back to the summit, “Hate That I Made You Love Me” ties for a special honor within Grande’s discography.

Ariana Grande Returns to No. 1 Globally

“Hate That I Made You Love Me” has now spent two of its five weeks on the Billboard Global 200 at No. 1. As it doubles its total number of frames spent running the most competitive planet-spanning tally by finding its way back to the summit, “Hate That I Made You Love Me” ties with two other hits as the Oscar-nominated star’s longest-running rulers.

“Hate That I Made You Love Me” is now on the same level as both “Positions” and “Yes, And?” The first of those two became only the fourth ruler on the Billboard Global 200 in November 2020, about two months after the ranking was inaugurated. Grande followed smashes by Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion, BTS, and Jawsh 685, Jason Derulo and BTS. Amazingly, the K-pop boy band scored two of the first three No. 1s in the ranking’s history. “Yes, And?” launched in the peak position in 2024.

Ariana Grande Has Charted Five Global Leaders

Another two tracks by Grande managed only one spin at No. 1 on the Billboard Global 200. “Save Your Tears” became her second leader when she and the Weeknd sent it to the top spot in May 2021. “Save Your Tears” debuted on the roster four months prior, and after the Weeknd recruited Grande for a remix of the previously solo track, it became a winner. “We Can’t Be Friends (Wait for Your Love),” the second single from Eternal Sunshine, following “Yes, And?,” opened at No. 1 in March 2024, two months after its predecessor, and then quickly stepped down.

“Hate That I Made You Love Me” Rebounds to No. 1

“Hate That I Made You Love Me” arrived at No. 1 in mid-June, but was quickly forced from the highest rung on the Billboard Global 200. Just days after Grande’s new single topped the tally, Taylor Swift’s Toy Story 5 cut “I Knew It, I Knew You” similarly launched in the peak position. Then, one frame later, Olivia Rodrigo’s “Stupid Song” took over. That track – which is certainly not stupid – held court in the highest rung for two frames, and now “Hate That I Made You Love Me” has regained its control. Rodrigo’s most recent ruler steps down to second place.

Ariana Grande’s New Single Spent Two Weeks Ruling

“Hate That I Made You Love Me” has spent two weeks atop both the Billboard Global 200 and the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. While it took the tune a month to reach that sum on the first ranking, “Hate That I Made You Love Me” debuted in first place on the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. and did not vacate that spot for Swift’s “I Knew It, I Knew You.” “Stupid Song” did take over after a two-frame stint enjoyed by Grande, and for the past two weeks, Shakira and Burna Boy have ruled with their World Cup anthem, “Dai Dai.”
