Madonna is back on top of the Official Albums chart in the United Kingdom as Confessions II launches in the top space. The set marks her first champion in the country in more than a decade, and it continues her already historic winning streak, which began back in the mid-’80s. As the Queen of Pop finds her way back to the summit on the ranking of the most-consumed albums and EPs in the nation, she breaks a tie with one of the most successful living male musicians and matches a true legend.
Confessions II Becomes Madonna’s Thirteenth No. 1
Confessions II marks Madonna’s thirteenth trip to No. 1 on the Official Albums chart. She first reached the peak position in September 1985 with Like a Virgin, her sophomore set. Madonna’s last collection to rule was MDNA, which spent one frame in charge in the spring of 2012.
Here are all of Madonna’s No. 1s on the Official Albums chart.

As Confessions II arrives as high as a title can climb, Madonna ties for the fifth-most rulers of all time on the Official Albums chart in the U.K. Thanks to her latest winner, she’s now on the same level as Elvis Presley. The superstar and rock pioneer soared to the No. 1 spot on the Official Albums ranking in November 1956 with Elvis Presley Rock ‘n’ Roll. His most recent champion, The Wonder of You, debuted in the penthouse just under a decade ago.
Here are all of Presley’s No. 1s on the Official Albums chart.

Madonna Breaks Her Tie With Bruce Springsteen
Last week, before Confessions II began appearing on charts all around the world, Madonna was tied with Bruce Springsteen for the sixth-most rulers in U.K. history. The two solo stars had managed a dozen leaders apiece, but now she’s pulled ahead, for the time being.

The last time Springsteen earned a new ruler was back in November 2020 with Letter to You. Since then, a pair of projects, Only the Strong Survive and Tracks II: The Lost Albums, have missed out on dominating by just one space.
Here are all of Springsteen’s No. 1s on the Official Albums chart.
- Born in the U.S.A.
- Devils & Dust
- Greatest Hits
- High Hopes
- Human Touch
- Letter to You

Madonna Could Soon Climb the All-Time List Again
If Madonna can land another No. 1 on the Official Albums ranking at some point, she will move up once more on the all-time list, at least as it stands at the moment – although the ranking is sure to change very soon. Taylor Swift and the Rolling Stones are currently tied for the third-most champions ever, with 14 apiece.

In only a few days, the Rolling Stones will likely add to that sum, as the group’s latest release Foreign Tongues is a strong contender for the top space. Swift also rarely misses whenever she shares any collection, and though she has not announced her next era, it’s likely only a matter of months, or perhaps a year or two, before she once again conquers the rundown.
Robbie Williams sits in first place with 16 No. 1s on the Official Albums chart. The British pop superstar only recently passed the Beatles’ long-standing record of 15 rulers.

It is only on the Official Albums Streaming tally, which is built entirely around plays on platforms like Spotify, Apple Music, and others, that Madonna misses the throne. Confessions II arrives at No. 7, earning the Grammy winner her sixth placement and first top 10.
