My Chemical Romance returned to the United Kingdom in late June as the band continued its Long Live the Black Parade concert tour. The venture, which actually began last summer, celebrates the twentieth anniversary of the alternative rock outfit’s third full-length, The Black Parade, one of the group’s most celebrated and commercially successful albums.
My Chemical Romance began its U.K. run in Liverpool, then headed to Scotland for one night in Glasgow. More recently, the troupe finished three shows at Wembley Stadium in London. The fact that a band that hasn’t released an album in more than a decade and a half is able to fill such enormous venues after such a long recording hiatus speaks to its popularity and how much English fans love everything MCR – especially the music from The Black Parade.
Unsurprisingly, My Chemical Romance is enjoying one of its best weeks on the charts in the nation in a long time. The focus is, of course, on The Black Parade, but as streams and sales of that collection grow, longtime lovers of the act are returning to everything the group ever recorded. My Chemical Romance is one of the most successful names on the U.K.’s rock songs tally, as multiple singles return and one rockets into the highest tier.
“Welcome to the Black Parade” Surges Into the Top 10
“Welcome to the Black Parade,” the first single from the album of almost the same name, surges on the Official Rock and Metal Singles chart. This frame – 886 weeks into its time as one of the bestselling tunes of those styles in the U.K. – “Welcome to the Black Parade” surges from No. 16 to No. 10, finding its way back into the uppermost region.
“Welcome to the Black Parade” Returns After Four Years
“Welcome to the Black Parade” debuted on the Official Rock and Metal Singles chart in October 2006, and it became an immediate ruler for My Chemical Romance. In the almost 900 weeks it has spent on the tally since then, the smash has spent nine frames running the show.
While “Welcome to the Black Parade” can be found on the Official Rock and Metal Singles chart more often than not, it has been a long time since it last appeared between Nos. 1 and 10. One of My Chemical Romance’s signature cuts was last seen in the region in June 2022, when it rose from No. 12 to No. 9. Then, the following frame, it slipped outside the top 10, falling to No. 11, and it’s taken until now for it to climb back into the competitive space.
“Famous Last Words” Reappears on the Rock Chart
Two additional hits by My Chemical Romance reappear on the Official Rock and Metal Singles chart. The highest-ranking of the comebacks is “Famous Last Words,” another single pushed from The Black Parade, which reenters the genre-specific rundown at No. 29.
“Famous Last Words” Returns After a Lengthy Absence
“Famous Last Words” has been missing from the Official Rock and Metal Singles chart since the ranking dated June 9, 2022. A week prior, it sat at No. 26 – the last time it landed in a loftier position than where it currently appears.
“Helena” Becomes a Top 40 Bestseller Again
“Helena,” which served as one of My Chemical Romance’s global breakout smashes and a single from Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge – the album that preceded The Black Parade – is also back on the Official Rock and Metal Singles chart this week. The tune is a top 40 bestseller again as it finds its way to No. 34. Just like “Famous Last Words,” “Helena” has not been seen on the Official Rock and Metal Singles chart since June 2022.
My Chemical Romance Claims Three Bestsellers in the U.K.

Thanks to two returning favorites, My Chemical Romance claims the third-most hits on this week’s Official Rock and Metal Singles chart. The band shares that honor with Guns N’ Roses, Queen, Metallica, and Green Day.
AC/DC scores one additional hit, as “Thunderstruck,” “Highway to Hell,” “Back in Black,” and “You Shook Me All Night Long” are bestsellers again. Linkin Park leads all names with half a dozen successes. “Numb,” “Faint,” “Somewhere I Belong,” “The Emptiness Machine,” “What I’ve Done,” and “One Step Closer” – which represent some of the nu metal outfit’s most popular albums – are all present on the tally.
My Chemical Romance Has Scored a Dozen No. 1s
Since first appearing on the Official Rock and Metal Singles chart in late 2003, My Chemical Romance has racked up 21 hits. A dozen of those have reached No. 1, and several have dominated for multiple frames. Only four tunes, including “Honey, This Mirror Isn’t Big Enough for the Two of Us,” “We Don’t Need Another Song About California,” “Bulletproof Heart,” and “Tomorrow’s Money,” failed to crack the uppermost tier.
