Earlier this month, United Kingdom-based independent record store Rough Trade released a new vinyl edition of Sade’s Diamond Life. The reissue, which is now available on transparent wax, is part of the brand’s fiftieth-anniversary program, which will feature 50 beloved titles earning the treatment.

While the rerelease was limited to only 2,000 copies, that proved to be enough to turn Diamond Life into a bestseller in the country, and the project rises higher than ever on multiple tallies. Amazingly, Diamond Life is not Sade’s only charting album in the U.K. at the moment, and it’s not the only set from the R&B act led by Sade Adu to climb to a new peak position.

Diamond Life Reaches New All-Time Highs on Two Charts

Diamond Life appears on three rosters in the U.K. this week, and it hits a new all-time high on all but one of them. The group’s debut full-length, which dropped 40 years ago, reenters the Official Vinyl Albums, Official Physical Albums, and Official Albums Sales rosters, appearing at Nos. 22, 44, and 47, respectively. The collection marks a new all-time peak on the latter two. It fails to return to its previously-set high point on the vinyl-only roster by only a few spaces, as it once climbed as high as No. 19.

Diamond Life Returns After Debuting in 2024

Diamond Life debuted on all three rankings on which it currently appears in July 2024, decades after it first landed on the Official Albums chart, the main tally for full-lengths and EPs in the country. As it reappears, Diamond Life has now spent just two weeks on the trio of rundowns in the U.K.

The Best Of Rockets to a New Chart Peak

The success of Diamond Life has spurred Sade’s The Best Of to an impressive new high on the Official Albums Sales chart. This frame, it’s up on the list of the top-selling collections of any genre and via any format, including digital downloads, where it rockets from No. 85 to No. 52. The group’s compilation only appeared on the Official Albums Sales chart for the first time in April of this year. The set arrived at No. 79 several months ago, and that position stood as its loftiest placement until this week.

The Best Of Climbs on Two Lists

While Diamond Life needs to return to the only charts on which it appears in the U.K., The Best Of can be found on a trio of rankings, some of which it inhabited only a few days ago. The compilation climbs not only on the Official Albums Sales list, but also the Official Physical Albums roster, as it bolts from No. 81 to No. 49. The hits-packed project, which was released almost 30 years ago in October 1994, backtracks ever so slightly on the Official Albums chart, declining from No. 92 to No. 94.

Sade Returns to Four Different Rankings

Sade returns to four different charts across the Atlantic this frame. As Diamond Life reenters the Official Albums Sales, Official Physical Albums, and Official Vinyl Albums lists, The Best Of lifts back onto the Official Albums Downloads rundown, where it is present at No. 97. The compilation has now spent seven weeks on the tally since debuting in February 2010. The Best Of dropped off the register in late April of this year and last July climbed to its No. 57 high point.
