Packers Matt LaFleur Hasn’t Won Big, But He’s Looked Good In Defeat

Matt LaFleur can’t hold a candle to men like Andy Reid, Mike Macdonald and Nick Sirianni when it comes to postseason success.

But LaFleur does have them all beat in one category: the NFL’s most attractive coach.

The website covers.com recently surveyed more than 5,000 fans and asked them who the NFL’s best looking coach is. LaFleur, set to begin his eighth season as the Green Bay Packers’ boss, finished second behind only Sean McVay of the Los Angeles Rams.

McVay finished with 15.93% of the vote, while LaFleur was second with 8.28%. Seattle’s Macdonald (6.49%), Philadelphia’s Sirianni (5.85%) and Kansas City’s Reid (5.81%) rounded out the top five.

LaFleur is the only coach in the top-five that hasn’t won a Super Bowl. Reid has won the big game three times, while McVay, Macdonald and Sirianni all have one championship.

Chicago’s Ben Johnson (5.46%), New England’s Mike Vrabel (5.46%), Detroit’s Dan Campbell (5.18%), San Francisco’s Kyle Shanahan (4.98%) and Carolina’s Dave Canales (2.63%) rounded out the top 10.

The bottom five included Indianapolis’ Shane Steichen at No. 28 (0.88%), Cleveland’s Todd Monken (0.84%), Klint Kubiak of Las Vegas (0.80%), Tampa Bay’s Todd Bowles (0.68%) and Aaron Glenn of the New York Jets (0.60%).

Packers fans — accustomed to heavy set, sometimes disheveled coaches like Mike McCarthy, Mike Sherman and Mike Holmgren — have often complained that LaFleur is “too good looking” to be a traditional, gritty, gutty NFL head coach.

LaFleur is best known for a pristine fade haircut, his famously praised eyebrows and a perfectly kept goatee and mustache combination.

“Great eyebrow game, right?” former quarterback Aaron Rodgers once said of LaFleur. “I mean, the eyebrows are amazing.”

ESPN host Pat McAfee added: “Have you ever seen him without the freshest of fades, by the way? He is always perfectly faded up.”

Arthur Smith, Atlanta’s head coach from 2021-2023 who once worked with LaFleur in Tennessee, once said, “I don’t spend an hour looking in the mirror before games like Matt Lafleur does.”

Packer fans would rather LaFleur looked a little more unkept and won more meaningful games.

LaFleur went 28-8 in his first two seasons (including playoffs) and led the Packers to consecutive NFC Championship game appearances. LaFleur is just 1-5 in his last six playoff games, though and has a 3-6 overall record in the postseason (.333).

The Packers haven’t won the NFC North since 2021 — the longest drought in the division. And Green Bay enters 2026 on a five-game losing streak, the fourth longest in football.

Last season, Green Bay had double digit leads in the final 4 minutes of three games — twice against Chicago and at Cleveland — and lost all three. The odds of the Packers going 0-3 in those contests was 1-in-250,000, yet somehow they did it.

Much of the fanbase was irked when Green Bay elected to bring LaFleur back for an eighth season, especially after the Packers blew a 21-3 halftime lead to Chicago in the NFC Wild Card game and eventually lost, 31-27.

There’s no telling how the 2026 season will play out for LaFleur and the Packers.

Once thing is certain, though, LaFleur will look good no matter the result.
