Karol G’s new album No Me Arrepiento de Sentir Tanto is a big win for the Latin superstar in America this week. For her latest collection, Karol reached out to some of the top hitmakers in the global music industry and recruited them for collaborations, and thanks to that effort, she lands several new hits on a handful of Billboard’s biggest charts.
One such superstar is Drake, who lent his star power and talent to the song “Ahi.” Unsurprisingly, the popularity of both Karol and Drake turns “Ahi” into a smash on a variety of lists in America and a No. 1 on several Latin-focused rosters. Karol is no stranger to the Spanish-language tallies, but Drake has only dominated a few times, and on one specific rundown, the Canadian hip-hop talent scores his first leader.
Drake Scores His First Hot Latin Rhythm Songs No. 1
“Ahi” debuts at No. 1 on the Hot Latin Rhythm Songs chart. The ranking measures the most popular tracks classified as both Latin and rhythm, according to Billboard, with the melding of the styles encompassing pieces of other subgenres as well, including reggaeton and Latin hip-hop. “Ahi” marks not only Drake’s first No. 1 on the roster, but his first top 10 and his first appearance anywhere on the list.
Drake Scores Two More No. 1 Hits on Different Lists
“Ahi” also opens at No. 1 on two additional Latin-focused rosters: the Hot Latin Songs and Latin Streaming Songs charts. The former ranks the most popular Latin songs in the United States using consumption across several metrics, while the latter focuses specifically on streaming activity.
In both cases, Drake earns his fourth No. 1 and fourth top 10. He has reached both tiers with exactly the same tracks. “Odio” with Romeo Santos, “MIA,” fronted by Bad Bunny, “Gently,” which also features Bunny, and now “Ahi” have all spent time at No. 1 on the two rankings. In some instances, they held at the summit for months.
Almost All of Drake’s Latin Streaming Hits Have Ruled
Drake has now racked up five appearances on the Latin Streaming Songs chart, and only one of those tunes has missed out on both No. 1 and the top 10. “Modo Capone,” his collaboration with Chino Pacas and Fuerza Regida, peaked at No. 10 on the Latin Streaming Songs tally. On the Hot Latin Songs ranking, that same cut missed the top 10 by only one rung.
“Take Care,” Drake’s entirely English-language collaboration with Rihanna — a rarity on the Hot Latin Songs roster — also made the list more than a decade ago, but only barely, as it peaked at No. 47.
Drake Adds to His Historic Billboard Chart Totals
“Ahi” debuts on three additional Billboard charts this week. The collaboration opens on the Billboard Hot 100, the Streaming Songs chart and the Billboard Global 200 at Nos. 44, 46 and 103, respectively.
Those arrivals add to some already-staggering career totals for Drake. He is now up to 403 appearances on the Billboard Hot 100, 310 on the Streaming Songs roster and 185 on the Billboard Global 200.
Not long ago, Drake became the first artist to accrue 400 hits on the Billboard Hot 100. He has already added to that unprecedented sum in the weeks since he made history, and with 403 placements now to his credit, it seems likely that his record will remain untouched for quite some time.
