‘And Just Like That…’ To End After Season 3

The Sex and the City sequel series, And Just Like That…, will come to an end after its upcoming third season, showrunner Michael Patrick King announced Friday on social media.

Premiering in 2021, the revival reunited original stars Sarah Jessica Parker (Carrie), Cynthia Nixon (Miranda), and Kristin Davis (Charlotte). Noticeably absent — aside from a fleeting cameo and a lone text this season — was Kim Cattrall’s Samantha.

Season one followed Carrie as she grieved the death of Mr. Big (Chris Noth) and cautiously reentered the dating world, while Miranda experienced an identity crisis and Charlotte navigated the chaos of raising two teenagers.

More recently, And Just Like That… has shifted its focus to Carrie moving on from her improbable return romance with Aidan (John Corbett), Miranda exploring new relationships, and Charlotte dealing with husband Harry’s (Evan Handler) health scare.

Sex and the City This Wasn’t

Recreating the original show’s magic may have always been a long shot, but the addition of new characters — Seema Patel (Sarita Choudhury), a clear Samantha clone, Lisa Todd Wexley (Nicole Ari Parker), Che Diaz (Sara Ramirez), Nya Wallace (Karen Pittman), and Duncan Reeves (Jonathan Cake) — only underscored how far the series had strayed. Meanwhile, the passing of Willie Garson in 2021, who played Stanford Blatch, was never adequately dealt with.

In total, 33 episodes of And Just Like That… were produced. Sex and the City, which aired on HBO from 1998 to 2004, ran for 94 episodes.
