Rosé Beats Blackpink On The Charts And Makes History

Less than a year ago, Blackpink superstar Rosé finally delivered her debut solo album, Rosie. By that point, the singer had been a global sensation for years thanks to her work with the K-pop girl group, and she had also managed to establish herself on her own — as had her three bandmates.

By the time Rosie arrived, several tunes from the set had already been pushed as singles. All of them became successful, but one in particular stands out as one of the biggest hits ever by a K-pop soloist. That track has helped turn Rosie into not just a chart win, but a historic success story for Rosé.

Rosie Reenters the Billboard 200

Rosie is back on the Billboard 200 this week. The full-length reenters the 200-spot ranking of the most consumed albums in the U.S. at No. 168. The comeback is exciting for Rosé and her fans, but it’s especially meaningful because of the amount of time the title has now spent on America’s most competitive albums tally.

Longest-Charting Full-Length by a Female K-Pop Act

As it returns to the Billboard 200, Rosie reaches 27 weeks on the ranking. Rosé’s almost-self-titled project now stands as the longest-charting full-length by any female K-pop act in U.S. history.

Before its reentry, Rosie had matched both Blackpink’s The Album and Get Up by NewJeans, which each held on for 26 frames — exactly half a year.

Rosé Trails BTS and Jimin

Only seven albums by K-pop stars have enjoyed longer stays than Rosie. Six of them come from BTS, including Love Yourself: Answer, Map of the Soul: 7, and Proof. Also on that list is Muse by BTS member Jimin, which racked up 34 weeks somewhere on the Billboard 200.

“Apt.” Powers Rosé’s Album

Rosie is largely being kept afloat thanks to the ongoing success of lead single “Apt.,” her collaboration with Bruno Mars. The track is still present on two tallies in the U.S. — the Hot 100 and the Radio Songs chart.

More than a month ago, “Apt.” broke the records on both lists and became the longest-charting tune by any K-pop musician in American history. It continues to extend that lead every frame.

Streams, sales, and airplay of the cut remain healthy, and they play a large role in Rosie moving thousands of units each week. Luminate reports that in the most recent tracking period, Rosé’s set shifted just under 9,700 equivalent units. Almost 2,100 of those were pure purchases, while streaming activity accounts for much of the rest.
