A little more than half a century ago, the band the Eagles finally broke to the mainstream with the group’s fourth album, One of These Nights. The set dropped in the summer of 1975 and included several singles which catapulted the rockers to superstardom.
A little more than five decades later, One of These Nights was recently reissued as a deluxe edition. The updated offering, which clearly excited longtime fans of the group, includes the original album remastered, as well as a full concert recorded at Anaheim Stadium in 1975, which has never been heard in full before.
Eagles lovers help One of These Nights debut on multiple charts in the U.K. this week and return to another it has already placed on in the past – but it’s never performed this well before.
The Eagles Return With One of These Nights
One of These Nights appears on three rankings in the U.K., and it debuts on two of them. This week, the set opens at No. 21 on the Official Albums Sales tally and simultaneously enters the Official Album Downloads roster, which focuses entirely on purchases via platforms such as iTunes, at No. 53.
The Eagles Claim a Seventh Bestselling Album in the U.K.
The Eagles have scored just seven career wins on both of those tallies now that One of These Nights has finally arrived. The last time the group landed a new placement on the Official Albums Sales chart – which uses a methodology that includes purchases digitally as well as on physical formats – was only a little more than two years ago. In April 2024, To the Limit — The Essential Collection climbed as high as No. 14.
The Eagles have waited more than half a decade since earning another bestseller on the Official Album Downloads chart. To the Limit — The Essential Collection has not made it to that list, although several other compilations have found space. Live from the Forum MMXVIII launched at No. 26 in October 2020 and disappeared the following frame.
One of These Nights Also Flies to a New High
One of These Nights reappears on one of the three lists where it can currently be found in the U.K., and it establishes a new high as it returns. The Eagles classic debuted on the Official Physical Albums chart back in March 1995, shortly before it turned 20. That year, the set held on for three consecutive periods and then slipped away. One of These Nights has not been seen on the ranking of the top-selling albums on CD, cassette or vinyl since then, but as it returns at No. 21, it breaks into the top 40 for the first time.
The Eagles Double Up With The Complete Greatest Hits
The Eagles double up on one of the three rankings where One of These Nights can be found. As the decades-old project opens at No. 53 on the Official Album Downloads tally, The Complete Greatest Hits reappears at No. 66. Unlike One of These Nights, The Complete Greatest Hits, one of multiple hugely successful compilations by one of the bestselling rock bands of all time, has already spent more than 200 weeks rising and falling, disappearing and reappearing.
Dolly Parton Blocks the Eagles from No. 1
In another show of just how popular the Eagles remain in the U.K. to this day, the band nearly hits No. 1 on yet another albums list. On the Official Country Compilations chart, Live from the Forum MMXVIII soars from No. 10 to No. 2. Dolly Parton’s The Very Best Of keeps the Eagles’ live set from earning a forty-second stay at the summit on the country-only rundown.
