A six-time NTT IndyCar Series Champion along with the 2026 winner of the Indianapolis 500 are coming to Arrow McLaren beginning in 2027, joining Sunday’s Honda Indy 200 at Mid-Ohio winner Pato O’Ward to create a powerhouse team.
It’s no longer presumed, it is now official as Arrow McLaren officially announced Scott Dixon and Felix Rosenqvist, ending tremendous speculation over the past 10 days. Meyer-Shank Racing announced Rosenqvist’s departure on June 24 and Chip Ganassi Racing announced Dixon would be leaving the team with an announcement July 2.
Dixon is a six-time NTT IndyCar Series Champion and winner of 59 NTT IndyCar Series races included the 2008 Indianapolis 500. Dixon’s six titles and race wins are the second most in IndyCar history behind AJ Foyt’s seven IndyCar championships and 67 career wins.
Rosenqvist won the 110th Indianapolis 500 on May 24 in the closest finish in Indy 500 history – 0.0233-of-a-second over Team Penske’s David Malukas.
Arrow McLaren made the announcement at 2 p.m. Eastern Time on Monday, July 6 that both drivers had signed multi-year contracts. It was also announced that Arrow McLaren Sporting Director Ryan Hunter-Reay would return to the cockpit to compete in the 111th Indianapolis 500 in 2027.
Two of the team’s three current drivers – Christian Lundgaard and Nolan Siegel – will finish the 2026 season at Arrow McLaren before departing. Last week, both drivers were given permission to begin talks with other IndyCar teams to find rides for next season.
“Our IndyCar team has shown fantastic momentum, and this lineup of Pato, Scott, Felix and Ryan will strengthen every aspect of our program,” said McLaren Racing CEO Zak Brown. “We’ve got our eyes firmly set on the (IndyCar) Championship as well as winning the Indianapolis 500 to secure the Triple Crown in the Papaya era. These four drivers bring a wealth of experience as well as great chemistry and will no doubt have a positive impact across our entire team.
“Christian’s and Nolan’s contributions have helped shape the progress we’re building on today, and I appreciate the energy and drive they have brought to the team since they joined.”
Scott Dixon’s Dramatic Career Change
For Dixon, it’s a dramatic change in his career. He has been a member of Chip Ganassi Racing since midway in the 2002 season and has become an IndyCar Series legend over the past 25 years.
Dixon was courted by Arrow McLaren during his last contract year and gave it serious consideration before re-signing with Ganassi. But this time around, Dixon decided to take a new career path.
“Joining Arrow McLaren in 2027 is an exciting next step in my career,” Dixon said. “It was a big decision for myself, for my family, and I’m looking forward to contributing to what the team, Zak and Tony are building there.
“As a New Zealander, being part of Bruce McLaren’s legacy will be special; his spirit and grit are still very much rooted in that team, and I’m excited to carry that on.”
Dixon is a six-time IndyCar champion (2003, 2008, 2013, 2015, 2018, and 2020), a winner of the 2008 Indianapolis 500 and ranks second all-time in series victories with 59 wins. The New Zealander also holds the IndyCar record for career starts and has earned victories in 23 different seasons, underscoring an unprecedented level of consistency and longevity.

Beyond his success in IndyCar, Dixon is a three-time overall winner of the Rolex 24 at Daytona, was inducted into the Motorsports Hall of Fame of America in 2024 and most recently into the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum Hall of Fame this past May.
A Return For Felix Rosenqvist
Rosenqvist returns to Arrow McLaren, a team he raced for from 2021 to 2023. Since 2024, Rosenqvist has driven Indy cars for Meyer Shank Racing, including his victory in this year’s Indy 500. He has two race wins and seven pole positions in IndyCar and was Rookie of the Year in the series in 2019 at Chip Ganassi Racing.
“I’m excited to return to Arrow McLaren next season and reunite with Pato, of course, and also Tony (Kanaan, Arrow McLaren Team Principal), Zak and the crew and engineers I worked with previously. There are a lot of familiar faces, and we’ve got an incredible lineup with Scott joining and Ryan returning for the 500.
“I think our collective experience will be a huge benefit. I’ve still got work to do to finish this season strong, but I’m looking forward to what’s to come at Arrow McLaren.”

Ryan Hunter-Reay Makes Another Indy 500 Run
Hunter-Reay won the 2014 Indianapolis 500 in a dramatic battle with Helio Castroneves and finished 0.060-of-a-second ahead at the checkered flag in what was at the time, the second closest finish in Indy 500 history. He competed for Arrow McLaren as an “Indy-only” driver in this year’s 500-Mile Race before accepting the position of Arrow McLaren Sporting Director.
Hunter-Reay has 296 career IndyCar starts, 18 victories and 47 podium finishes. He is the 2012 IndyCar Series champion and also the only American to record victories in IndyCar, CART, Champ Car, American Le Mans Series and Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series.
Hunter-Reay will attempt the Indy 500 again as a driver in 2027.
“I have unfinished business with the 500, and so does this team,” Hunter-Reay said. “Our focus is on Indy; learn from the past, and our number one goal is to win the Indy 500. We have ample amount of time to be fully prepared in working toward a big month of May in 2027 racing alongside Pato, Scott and Felix. The four of us certainly know our way around the Speedway.
“In the meantime, working with the team full time as Sporting Director offers a unique opportunity to have a direct impact on our ambitious development plans for the 2027 season, the Indy 500 and beyond.”

Why Arrow McLaren Team Principal Tony Kanaan Created This Lineup
Tony Kanaan is the Team Principal at Arrow McLaren, and this ambitious lineup is another example of the major changes he has made since he took this position on February 20, 2025.
“It’s never an easy decision, but when you have the opportunity to bring drivers of this caliber into your team, you take it seriously,” Kanaan said. “Scott’s accomplishments speak for themselves, Felix is this year’s 500 winner and consistently fast and competitive and Ryan has the experience and the capability to win the 500 again, without a doubt. Add that talent to what we have with Pato, who is knocking on the door of his own 500 win, and we’re the threat we have been building up to be in the championship and the 500.
“We will keep our focus on Christian and Pato’s championship fight and Nolan’s work toward top ten finishes for the remainder of the season. Christian and Nolan have been awesome teammate, and they have given a lot to help us build up this team the past two years.”

What’s Next For Christian Lundgaard and Nolan Siegel
The dramatic team makeover comes in the middle of a season when Lundgaard has won two IndyCar Series races and won the pole for the July 5 Honda Indy 200 at Mid-Ohio. Prior to that race, the team’s star, O’Ward, had not scored a victory or raced to a podium finish until winning at Mid-Ohio on Sunday. It was O’Ward’s 10th career IndyCar win.
O’Ward won the race by passing Lundgaard on Lap 42 and staying out front for the remainder of the 90-lap race with the exception of pit stops. Lundgaard finished second and after the race was asked what he was going to do in regard to his future?
“I’m going to go take a shower, I’m going to sleep and then see what comes,” Lundgaard said, calling everything else “noise.”

Siegel is young project but has never finished higher than 23rd in the final IndyCar Series standings in each of his two previous seasons in the series.
Both are now free agents and can start talking to other IndyCar teams about the future.
Lundgaard is presumably a candidate for Dixon’s No. 9 PNC Bank Honda at Chip Ganassi Racing, along with other potential candidates. Siegel has been linked to Juncos Hollinger Racing.
Siegel hopes to remain in IndyCar in 2027, but again, a deal is not in place.
When it comes to deals, Arrow McLaren has made many changes in recent seasons with the exception of Pato O’Ward. By bringing in one of the greatest drivers in IndyCar history with six-time champion Scott Dixon, and this year’s Indy 500 winner in Felix Rosenqvist, the team has certainly created an All-Star lineup in terms of epic accomplishments.
