On the heels of Amanda Anisimova reaching the Wimbledon final, four American women are now ranked in the Top 10 in the world.

Roland Garros champion Coco Gauff is No. 2, U.S. Open runner-up Jessica Pegula is No. 4, Anisimova No. 7 and Australian Open champion Madison Keys No. 8.

The quartet combined to reach the finals of each of the last four Grand Slam events – with Keys and Gauff each winning titles.

Anisimova lost to Iga Swiatek, 6-0, 6-0, in Saturday’s women’s final.

Born in Freehold, N.J. to parents who immigrated from Russia, Anisimova reached the French Open semifinals in 2019 when she was 17.

She then underwent a tumultuous few years in which her father passed away, she battled Covid and various injuries and then took a mental health break from the sport in 2023. A year ago, she lost in Wimbledon qualifying but then rebounded to reach the Canadian Open final last August.

This year she reached the Round of 16 at Roland Garros and the final of Queen’s Club in the leadup to Wimbledon.

“Now, every tennis player will want to take eight months off, let me tell you,” Chrissie Evert said on ESPN. “If you’re going to come back and play like that, that was awesome how she held her nerve.”

All four women are expected to play the U.S. Open later this summer, where one of them could win a third major title this year for the American women.
