The Milwaukee Brewers are making a concerted effort to invest in their future.

Sources have indicated the Brewers have made their second long-term prospect contract investment..

On April 3 2026, the Brewers signed shortstop Cooper Pratt, 21, to a new 8-year, $50.75M guaranteed contract.

Pratt’s deal runs from 2026 thru the 2033 season. It includes club options for 2034 and 2035, worth $15M.

sportrace.com indicated Pratt received a $3M signing bonus. They have an entire page dedicated to Pratt’s salary.

On June 9, 2026, it was reported by MLB.com, that Milwaukee is signing outfielder Luis Lara, 21, to a 7-year, contract, with three club options that will guarantee about $31million when finalized. The story was attributed to a “source.”

Lara’s new contract runs from 2026, until 2032. The Brewers hold club options for the years 2033 thru 2035.

MLB.com went on to say in their June 9 story that, “The Brewers did not confirm the deal, which was first reported by Spencer Michaelis, a podcaster and contributor to the fan site, Brewer Fanatic.

The Milwaukee Brewers are contending again, and they want to always keep an eye on their future.

More About Milwaukee Brewers prospect, Luis Lara:

Luis Lara is the No. 5 prospect in the Brewers organization.

A switch-hitter, Lara is 5-7, 169 pounds.

Lara was signed as an international free agent out of San Felipe, Venezuela for $1.1M in 2022.

Lara is moving quickly through the Brewers minor league development program.

Viewed as a relatively small, slightly built amateur player in Venezuela, Lara has made himself into an exciting player. In fact, Baseball America, a highly respected prospect evaluating organization, has called Lara, “explosive, with skills that translated on both sides of the ball.”

Lara is currently in his fifth minor league development season. He is playing at Triple-A Nashville, where he is hitting .338/.447/.500/.947, with eight doubles, two triples, seven home runs, 27 RBIs, and 18 stolen bases in 22 attempts. Lara has received 247 plate appearances, and has walked 39 times. As he entered play June 9, Lara had struck out 32 times.

While Lara is considered to be an average hitter by MLBpipeline.com, he is hitting very well this season. He is showing surprising pop in his bat. His well above Major League Baseball average speed, and his superb defense have been rated as his best tools.

More About Milwaukee Brewers Prospect, Cooper Pratt:

Pratt, a right-handed hitting shortstop, is currently ranked the No. 4 prospect in the Brewers organization by MLB.com.

Pratt is 6-4, 210 pounds, which is a large frame for a shortstop. However, he is a minor league Gold Glove winner, and projects to remain at shortstop.

Pratt was a 6th round pick of the Brewers in 2023, out of Magnolia High School in Senatobia, Mississippi.

The Brewers signed him away from attending the University of Mississippi.

Pratt received an signing bonus above the recommended value for his draft slot, when he signed a $1.35M contract. The value was actually 2nd round money in the draft.

It is unusual in Major League Baseball for a 6th round selection to command the type of signing bonus Pratt received.

Pratt could command his lofty signing bonus based upon his high baseball IQ, and the skills he showed on the baseball prospect showcase circuit.

Offensively, Pratt is a solid player, with an average hit tool, according to MLB.com.

The site does indicate that Pratt is an elite defender, based upon their Grade 60 value on his defense, and his arm strength.

Conclusions About The Signing Of Two Milwaukee Brewers Prospects:

The Milwaukee Brewers are investing heavily in their future.

They have signed two of the top players from their excellent farm system to lengthy contracts.

A number of Major League Baseball analysts have named the Milwaukee Brewers as the top farm system in the game.

Cooper and Lara are just two of the very highly regarded players in development with the Brewers.

Both shortstop Cooper Pratt, and outfielder Luis Lara could add some additional spark to a Brewers lineup that has already invested in outfielder Jackson Chourio, having signed Chourio to an eight-year, $84M contract in 2024.

With Chourio, Pratt, and now Lara signed to long-term contracts, the Milwaukee Brewers are making sincere efforts to help insure the success of their future.
