If Paul McCartney never recorded a piece of music again, he would forever be known as one of the most successful artists of all time. Under many different names, whether it’s his own, or Wings, or as one-quarter of The Beatles, the celebrated singer-songwriter has proved his immense talent time and time again, and these days, he has nothing left to do but make the music he wants to make, while the masses will remind him how much they still support him.
McCartney’s latest solo album, The Boys of Dungeon Lane, is an immediate bestseller in America, and it debuts inside the top 10 on several Billboard charts. McCartney leads a handful of lists, but misses out on ruling a pair by just one space.
Paul McCartney Debuts The Boys of Dungeon Lane at No. 2
The Boys of Dungeon Lane debuts at No. 2 on both the Top Rock & Alternative Albums and Top Rock Albums charts. Those rosters detail the most-consumed projects in those styles, with sales and streaming activity fueling any title’s advance.
McCartney misses out on a fifth solo ruler on both the Top Rock & Alternative Albums and Top Rock Albums charts. He has previously led the way with Memory Almost Full, Egypt Station, McCartney III and McCartney III Imagined, which followed the original by only a few months.
As a member of The Beatles, he claims another half dozen champions. The bestselling band of all time has pushed Love, On Air: Live at the BBC Volume 2, Abbey Road, Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band, Let It Be the soundtrack and Revolver to the chart’s penthouse.
Paul McCartney Scores Milestone Top 10s
Looking at McCartney’s solo work, The Boys of Dungeon Lane is his third collection to fail to rule by just one space. Previously, both New and Pure McCartney have similarly peaked in second place.

The singer-songwriter reaches a milestone number of top 10s on both rosters, thanks to his latest set. The Boys of Dungeon Lane marks McCartney’s tenth trip to the top 10 on the Top Rock Albums list, and his fifteenth on the Top Rock & Alternative Albums rundown.
Noah Kahan Keeps Paul McCartney at No. 2
Only Noah Kahan keeps the former Beatle from adding to his collection of No. 1s. The American singer-songwriter’s latest full-length, The Great Divide, is unmoved in the highest rung on both rock-leaning rankings. The Great Divide debuted at No. 1 on a number of Billboard charts in early May, and on the rock tallies, it has yet to give up control. Kahan’s long-awaited project has now led the way for half a dozen frames and will likely continue to do so for perhaps weeks, or months, to come.
Paul McCartney Replaces Stick Season
Kahan occupied the highest two spaces on the Top Rock & Alternative Albums and Top Rock Albums charts last week. As The Great Divide dominated once more, his former leader, Stick Season – which commanded the rosters for months – sat in second place. This time around, McCartney’s The Boys of Dungeon Lane and Shinedown’s Ei8ht launch at Nos. 2 and 3, respectively, while Stick Season falls to No. 4.

The Boys of Dungeon Lane Rules Two Billboard Charts
The Boys of Dungeon Lane does arrive at No. 1 on two of the five Billboard charts on which it currently appears. McCartney leads both the Top Album Sales and Vinyl Albums rankings, and his newest studio effort opens at No. 5 on the Billboard 200.
