Rihanna’s Dance-Pop Smash Ties Her Fan-Favorite Album Cut

Rihanna doesn’t release music like she used to. The superstar was once known as one of the most prolific hitmakers in the music industry, and she delivered an album nearly every year for much of her career. It’s now been more than a decade since Rihanna dropped Anti, her most recent set. Since then, she’s delivered a handful of tunes, including several attached to movies, but fans are still waiting patiently for another collection – or perhaps even a standalone song that does not inch her closer to another Academy Award nomination.

Rihanna’s lack of new music does not mean she is absent from the Billboard charts. Her catalog is so popular and packed with smashes that she regularly appears on at least the company’s worldwide tallies. This week, three of the Grammy winner’s smashes are global hits again, and as one earns another turn on multiple tallies, it advances within her own discography and ties with another nearly two-decade-old cut.

Rihanna’s “Don’t Stop the Music” Rises on the Global Charts

As of this frame, “Don’t Stop the Music” has lived on the Billboard Global 200 for 22 weeks. The chart ranks the most-consumed songs around the planet, and both sales and streams are critical when determining where a track appears on the list – if it manages to make space at all.

“Don’t Stop the Music” Ties “Breakin’ Dishes”

“Don’t Stop the Music” is now tied as one of Rihanna’s third longest-charting hits on the Billboard Global 200. With 22 frames on the tally to its credit, the one-time single is now on the same level as “Breakin’ Dishes,” which is only slightly newer.

“Lift Me Up,” which Rihanna wrote and recorded for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, beats both “Don’t Stop the Music” and “Breakin’ Dishes” by just one week. When Billboard refreshes its rankings, it seems likely that “Don’t Stop the Music” will tie “Lift Me Up,” and then in another frame, perhaps pass it in terms of longevity.

Rihanna’s longest-charting tune on the Billboard Global 200 remains “We Found Love,” her Grammy-winning collaboration with electronic dance producer Calvin Harris. That generation-defining hit has appeared on the Billboard Global 200 59 times, a sum that increases this week.

Rihanna Nears Another Tie with “Only Girl (In the World)”

“Don’t Stop the Music” has not spent quite as much time on the Billboard Global Excl. U.S., which does not take into account sales and streams from American consumers. “Don’t Stop the Music” has now lived on the tally for 18 weeks, and it is the singer-songwriter’s sixth longest-charting tune. In a few days, it may advance and sit alongside “Only Girl (In the World),” but it will have to hang on for a month or more if it wants to make a play to become one of Rihanna’s sturdiest hits on the Billboard Global Excl. U.S.

“Don’t Stop the Music” Hits New Highs on Two Billboard Charts

“Don’t Stop the Music,” which was one of many enormous commercial successes from Rihanna’s album Good Girl Gone Bad, climbs on both the Billboard Global 200 and Billboard Global Excl. U.S. The song reaches never-before-seen peaks on the tallies, surging to No. 106 on the entirely worldwide roster and No. 120 on the Billboard Global Excl. U.S.

Rihanna Charts Three Global Hits

Rihanna claims two wins on the Billboard Global 200 this week, with “We Found Love” trailing “Don’t Stop the Music” by nearly 60 spaces. On the Billboard Global Excl. U.S., the Barbadian multigenre household name appears three times. “Don’t Stop the Music” and “We Found Love” climb from where they sat only a few days ago, and “S&M” reappears at No. 178. Seven weeks into its time on the chart, “S&M,” another dance-pop win, establishes a new peak position.
