The music of Queen may be considered fairly family-friendly these days, though the group’s antics certainly were not always so squeaky clean. Back in the day, the musicians were known for conjuring up true hard rock music, though the meaning of the genre and what qualifies under that designation have changed dramatically throughout the decades.
Because Queen still fits beneath that broad “hard rock” umbrella, the band can almost always be found on Billboard’s rankings that focus on that style. This frame, the superstars manage to tie another one of the most successful acts in the history of one tally as multiple smashes become chart hits again.
Queen Charts Three Streaming Hits Simultaneously
Queen claims three hits in America this week, and all of them appear on the Hard Rock Streaming Songs chart. “Bohemian Rhapsody” drops from No. 12 to No. 20. At the same time, “Under Pressure,” the band’s collaboration with David Bowie, and “Another One Bites the Dust” reenter simultaneously at Nos. 24 and 25, respectively.
Queen Matches Linkin Park’s Three Smashes
Queen is one of only two acts to fill three spaces on this week’s Hard Rock Streaming Songs chart. The band joins Linkin Park, which also claims a trio of positions. The nu-metal outfit scores a pair of top 10s, as “In the End” and “Numb” sit at Nos. 3 and 9, respectively. “Somewhere I Belong” lands much lower at No. 23, placing just ahead of both “Under Pressure” and “Another One Bites the Dust.”
AC/DC and Three Days Grace Score Two Hits Each
Two other groups lay claim to a pair of spaces apiece on the Hard Rock Streaming Songs chart this time around. AC/DC lands at Nos. 4 and 19 with “Thunderstruck” and “You Shook Me All Night Long,” respectively. Three Days Grace also fills two spaces, with “Animal I Have Become” and “I Hate Everything About You” appearing at Nos. 11 and 18, respectively.
Queen’s Hits Have Charted for Hundreds of Weeks
All three of Queen’s current smashes on the Hard Rock Streaming Songs ranking have already spent hundreds of weeks on the tally. “Bohemian Rhapsody” is the longest-running of the bunch, with 323 turns on the rundown. That’s enough to easily make it easily Queen’s sturdiest hit. “Another One Bites the Dust” and “Under Pressure” have also both managed more than 200 frames on the list of the most-played hard rock cuts on all streaming platforms in the U.S.
Queen Has Only Charted One No. 1 Hit
Queen has only ever reached No. 1 on the Hard Rock Streaming Songs chart once. “Bohemian Rhapsody” has spent 43 weeks atop the roster, and it could add to that sum.
“Another One Bites the Dust” and “Under Pressure” are counted among the group’s four top 10s, as they peaked at Nos. 3 and 9, respectively. “We Will Rock You” is sandwiched between them in terms of loftiest position ever reached, as it debuted and peaked at No. 7.
Only “Don’t Stop Me Now” missed out on the uppermost tier. The fifth and final Queen cut to ever land on the Hard Rock Streaming Songs chart eventually rose to No. 21 years after it first landed on the list.
Queen’s Greatest Hits Rules Again
Queen has one album charting in America this week, as the outfit’s hugely popular Greatest Hits continues its extraordinary run on several Billboard rankings. The compilation is once again No. 1 on the Top Hard Rock Albums chart, where it has now spent an astounding 222 weeks in first place. It also remains inside the top 10 on both the Top Rock Albums and Top Rock & Alternative Albums tallies. At the same time, Greatest Hits drops on both the Billboard 200 and the Top Streaming Albums ranking.
