It’s Tuesday, we’re doing it. The Hunting Wives, after a decently impressive run on Netflix’s Top 10 list, has been at least temporarily dethroned by a new Netflix staple.
That would be WWE Monday Night RAW, which was a very special post-Summerslam episode that was always going to be a huge draw, as the RAWs after PPVs always are, especially one that’s the second-biggest of the year after Wrestlemania. The big news of that show was the surprise return of Brock Lesnar, which drew a lot of fire on social media after his link to Vince McMahon’s career-ending scandal.
The Hunting Wives, meanwhile, has yet to get a season 2 renewal. There may be some complications there, given that the show is based on a book with no sequel, but that hasn’t stopped other series before. You’re successful enough, and you find a way to make it work. Somehow we’re getting two more seasons of Shogun, for instance. I still expect a season 2 renewal for The Hunting Wives will be coming in the next few weeks or so, but these things tend to take time. Fans shouldn’t be concerned, I don’t think, and clearly the cast and crew are ready to go judging by their comments in interviews.
A new entry to the list is the 16 episode throwback comedy Leanne, the type of series you just don’t see much of these days, much less on streaming. It’s the story of woman dealing with her marriage falling apart, moving forward with her “salty sister.” It’s literally like, Roseanne-era stuff, but at #2-3, it’s performing well and has grabbed an audience.
Untamed remains #4, the limited series suddenly not so limited after a nearly two-week run that ended up getting the show a not-planned season 2 greenlight. The show will head to a new national park that will feature a new crime that Eric Bana will need to solve.
Of note, ahead of Wednesday season 2’s release tomorrow, Wednesday season 1 is currently inside the top 10 list as people appear to be rewatching it after the show has been off the air for a frankly absurd three years. Can’t blame them for wanting to go back to it for that reason but also it’s just…very good. I rarely watch shows twice these days, but I did so for Wednesday twice. That show is about to hit #1 on the list and stay there for weeks, I would guess.
