FROM is one of the best-reviewed shows on TV, one of the best horror series in the medium, and yet it is often overlooked by much of the public. It airing on MGM+, a less-than-high-profile streaming service, may be the main reason, but those that have gotten engaged are hooked. Season 4 of FROM just ended, and now, we have an update about the season 5 release date.
Season 5 will be the last of the show. FROM is not getting cancelled, but rather ending on its own terms and not wanting to drag out the mystery too long at this point. If you just thought of LOST, that ended in season 6, though I would argue that FROM is not a series that you might classify as “maybe it should have only just been one season.”
We have just learned that FROM season 5 has officially entered production just two weeks after its June 28 season 4 finale. With essentially no delay from it ending to filming start, we are going to see a new season much sooner than with other streaming series.
- FROM season 4 entered production in June of 2025, wrapped in November 2025, and was released in April 2026.
- So, 10 months from now would be May 2027, meaning that it would be just 11 months after season 4 premiered in April 2026. That is shorter than any gap so far with 14, 17 and 19 months between the previous four seasons, respectively. And all of these seasons are a full 10 episodes, another rarity in the streaming space these days.
FROM has the benefit of being able to shoot in very, very few locations, given that the series is about a town that no one can escape from so 90% of the show takes place…in that town. The other 10% is the woods outside the town (it may not surprise you that the show is filming in Nova Scotia, Canada). And, with this not being an insult to the cast, most of them are not regulars in other projects, so everyone has consistent availability to return for the ensemble production.
Reviews for this show are just stellar. The series has a 96% on Rotten Tomatoes from critics across all four seasons, with at least one perfect 100%. Season 4 was a 96% as well. There is, of course, the need to stick the landing, something that many would argue LOST did not do, but it’s a problem for countless shows, not just mystery boxes. Though arguably, it’s more important for that genre. FROM, however, has already answered a lot of its mysteries over time, and there are not a zillion loose threads to close as there might be in other similar shows. So, we’ll see how this goes in just under a year.
