Speedball Mike Bailey was a hometown favorite in Montreal in a six-man Ladder Match.

Speedball Mike Bailey secured the contract to become the No. 1 contender for the AEW International champion. He will either face Kyle Fletcher or Bandito in a future title shot.
Six of AEW’s top high-flying stars (Bailey, El Clon, Jungle Jack Perry, Nick Wayne and Komander), with the Beast Mortos as a talented base, battled on Montreal for a chance at the AEW International Championship. This comes on the heels of San Diego Comic Con, where increasingly basic International champion Kyle Fletcher was involved in an embarrassing and terribly acted press conference that was as real as an AEW media scrum.
The win for Bailey sets up what should be an entertaining wrestling match against either Bandito or Fletcher. Bailey and Fletcher have great chemistry dating back to a previous TNT Championship match on Dynamite in March. Bailey and Bandito have yet to have a match in AEW.
Speedball Mike Bailey Wins 6 Man Ladder Match For AEW International Title Shot
- Speedball Mike Bailey was the clear favorite as fans gave him a standing ovation and chanted his name early on. The match started with an exchange between Jungle Jack Perry and El Clon, who both ended up on the inside.
- Mike Bailey went toe-to-toe against the Beast Mortos, who got the better of Bailey with a press slam onto a ladder. Fans booed and chanted in French.
- Nick Wayne entered the ring and was booed heavily. Wayne hit a baseball slide dropkick on the ladder into Komander and followed up with a tope to the outside.
- Mortos teamed up with El Clon for a pop-up double team move. This was followed by synchronized offense from Perry and Speedball, who dived onto the filed on the outside.
- The battle traveled up the ramp as Speedball did a moonsault from the top of the ladder onto the field and the small crowd in the Bell Centre approved. Back inside the ring, Jack Perry went for the contract, but he was ousted by Beast Mortos. As Mortos tried to retrieve the contract, Komander sprinted across the top rope and took Mortos out. Mortos recovered with an impressive spinning dive to the outside on a handful of combatants.
- Three ladders of varying sizes were set up in the ring and all six men were climbing them. Everybody except a hobbled Beast Mortos were sent crashing down to the floor. Mortos tried his best to limp up the ladder, but he was taken down by Jack Perry.
- Jungle Jack Perry grabbed multiple tables. The small crowd in the giant arena went silent in what Nigel McGuinness described as a “stunned silence.” Jack Perry hit a hurricanrana on Mortos, but the beast slid off the table and it didn’t break. El Clon hit a Coup de Grace on Speedball through the table. Finally, Komander hit a rope-walk dive onto Nick Wayne through a table.
- El Clon showed power with a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker on a charging Mortos. Komander walked across a horizontal ladder, but Clon caught him in a Made from Japan from the ladder.
- Nick Wayne hit a Phoenix Splash onto El Clon. Perry one-upped Wayne with a Canadian Destroyer through the horizontal ladder. Fans came alive as Bailey set up a ladder, but Beast Mortos interrupted. Bailey set up Mortos on a ladder in the corner and hit a double knees moonsault on Mortos.
- Speedball Mike Bailey scaled the ladder and grabbed the contract to a huge pop.
