Benson Boone Outsells His Competition Several Times Over

Benson Boone debuts his new album American Heart in the runner-up spot on the Billboard 200 this week. While he misses reaching the summit, the Grammy-nominated pop singer achieves a new career high, as his latest full-length collection comes in behind I’m the Problem by Morgan Wallen.

American Heart wasn’t the most consumed album in the United States, but it was the bestselling. When it comes to pure purchases, Boone wins by a wide margin.

American Heart Debuts at No. 1

Luminate reports that in its first seven days of availability in the country, American Heart sold 30,000 copies. That sum is easily the largest of the week, and Boone’s latest opens at No. 1 on the Top Album Sales chart.

A Clear Winner

Boone didn’t face any serious competition on the Top Album Sales tally this frame. Coming in at No. 2 is I Quit, the latest full-length by Haim. That set, powered by the three Grammy-nominated sisters, kicks off its time on that list with a little under 13,400 pure purchases. That means Boone outsold his closest competitor by more than twice over.

American Heart arrives with 61,000 equivalent units shifted. Almost exactly half of those were actual sales, while streaming activity made up much of the rest. Unlike on the Top Album Sales ranking, Boone misses the No. 1 spot on the overall tally, the Billboard 200, and he didn’t come very close to the summit when looking at the final numbers. I’m the Problem moved another 177,000 equivalent units in its sixth week — almost three times as many as American Heart shifted in the same timeframe.

American Heart Starts on Four Billboard Charts

American Heart debuts on four Billboard charts, and opens inside the top five on all of them. In addition to ruling the Top Album Sales list, the newly-released project also kicks off its time at No. 1 on the Vinyl Albums ranking. The set narrowly enters the highest half of the top 10 on the Top Streaming Albums list, beginning at No. 5.
