Jackass: Best and Last, the final Jackass movie based on Johnny Knoxville’s hit MTV stunt series, will try to find a new audience on streaming this week after the film falls short of the box office earnings of the previous four movies in the franchise.

Promising new stunts and “never-before-seen stupidity,” as well as greatest hits and laughs from the TV-turned-movie franchise, Jackass: Best and Last opened in theaters on June 26. Directed by Jeff Tremaine, Jackass: Best and Last features Knoxville, Steve-O, Chris Pontius, Wee Man (Jason Acuña), Dave England, Danger Ehren (Ehren McGhehey), Preston Lacy, Rachel Wolfson, Jasper, Dark Shark (Compston Wilson), Poopies (Sean McInerney) and Zach Holmes.

Rated R, Jackass: Best and Last earned $18.2 million domestically and $9.1 million internationally for a worldwide box office tally of $27.3 million, making it the lowest-earning chapter in the film series. According to Variety, the film had a production budget of $10 million before marketing costs.

Created by Spike Jonze, Knoxville and Tremaine, Jackass ran as a series for three seasons on MTV from 2000 to 2002. The series leaped to the big screen in 2002 with Jackass: The Movie, which was followed by Jackass: Number Two in 2006 and Jackass 3D in 2010. After a 12-year break, the movie series continued in 2022 with Jackass Forever.

Each of the four films yielded big returns at the worldwide box office. Jackass: The Movie earned $79.2 million against a $2 million production budget, while Jackass: Number Two had a global take of $85.2 million against an $11 million budget. Jackass 3D was the biggest earner of the movie series, taking in $171.4 million against a $20 million budget, while Jackass Forever earned $74.7 million against a $10 million budget.
