Guillermo Del Toro’s Frankenstein: The Reborn Cut, which is the director’s cut of the Netflix film from The Criterion Collection, has landed a release date.
Directed by del Toro, who adapted the screenplay from Mary Shelley’s classic novel, Frankenstein opened in theaters on Oct. 24, 2025, before making its streaming video on demand debut on Netflix on Nov. 7, 2025.
The writer-director’s take on how Dr. Victor Frankenstein (Oscar Isaac) created The Creature (Jacob Elordi) only to abandon him went on to become one of the most lauded films this past awards season.
Frankenstein was nominated for nine Oscars, including Best Picture, Best Supporting Actor for Elordi and Best Adapted Screenplay for del Toro, and won three statuettes, including Best Costume Design, Best Makeup and Hairstyling and Best Production Design.

Rated R, Frankenstein also stars Mia Goth, Felix Kammerer, Charles Dance, Christian Convery, Lars Mikkelsen, David Bradley and Christoph Waltz.
While Frankenstein continues to stream on Netflix, The Criterion Collection has secured the rights to produce the film on physical media under the supervision of del Toro. Retitled Frankenstein: The Reborn Cut, del Toro’s long-anticipated director’s cut of the film will be 2 hours and 38 minutes in length, eight minutes longer than the original version, which runs 2 hours and 30 minutes.
According to The Criterion Collection retail site, Frankenstein: The Reborn Cut will be released on Tuesday, Oct. 27. Available for pre-order, the film will be available on 4K + Blu-ray for $47.96, Blu-ray for $39.96 and DVD for $23.96.
The 4K + Blu-ray and Blu-ray versions of Frankenstein: The Reborn Cut — which each consist of two discs — will include both the original theatrical version of the film and the extended cut. The 4K Extended Cut will come with a Dolby Atmos soundtrack and be presented in Dolby Vision HDR.

What Other Bonus Features Are Included In The 4K And Blu-Ray Releases Of ‘Frankenstein: The Reborn Cut’?
The 4K + Blu-ray and Blu-ray Criterion Collection versions of Frankenstein: The Reborn Cut also include several bonus features including the new documentary The Anatomy Lesson: Director’s Cut.
In addition, the releases will include the featurette The Parlour, which is a collection of conversations on craft featuring Guillermo del Toro, Jacob Elordi, Mia Goth, Oscar Isaac, cinematographer Dan Laustsen, production designer Tamara Deverell, costume designer Kate Hawley and creature designer Mike Hill.
The bonus features also include Q&As moderated by director Martin Scorsese and musician Patti Smith, an interview with composer Alexandre Desplat conducted by film-music scholar Jon Burlingame, and an essay by scholar and author Christopher Frayling.
Frankenstein: The Reborn Cut will be released on physical media by The Criterion Collection on Oct. 27.
