Dodgers Decline White House Visit Inquiry After Donald Trump’s Knicks Reception

The Los Angeles Dodgers remain the overall favorite to win the World Series championship as they maintain a strong position in the National League standings.

If the team makes good on those projections, it would capture a third-straight title after three straight offseasons of blockbuster roster additions. But before the team can capture another championship, it will have to answer growing questions about plans to celebrate its latest one.

President Donald Trump Sent Los Angeles Dodgers Return Message During White House Visit

The Dodgers visited the White House last year to celebrate their 2024 World Series championship, continuing a longstanding tradition for title-winning teams. During that ceremony, President Donald Trump expressed confidence that the club would return again in the near future.

“After seeing how successful you’ve begun this season, I can tell you that you can plan on being back here,” the president said during the event, per MLB.com’s Sonja Chen. “I hope you’re going to be back here next year.”

But that comment might have irked some Dodgers fans, even as they are hoping to see the team win another title.

“It’s no secret that the fanbase has been outspoken about ICE and other policies under President Donald Trump,” the New York Post’s Ryan Kostecka noted. “In fact, the Dodgers fanbase staunchly disapproved of Los Angeles’ decision to attend the White House last season following their 2024 World Series title.”

And Trump’s popularity with sports fans seemed to take another hit after he attended an NBA Finals game at Madison Square Garden earlier this week, where he was booed by New York Knicks fans.

Los Angeles Dodgers Decline To Clarify Plans For A Donald Trump White House Visit

Though Dodgers manager Dave Roberts has previously indicated that he would return to the White House to celebrate the team’s latest championship, there has not yet been a formal announcement of when such a visit might take place.

In 2025, the team conducted its visit in April and, as the calendar moves on, potential dates for another visit are running low.

And the team further stoked speculation that it might skip a visit with a president who seems to be losing popularity by declining an inquiry about any potential plans this week.

“The Dodgers have remained silent about a White House visit this season, declining to comment on a recent inquiry from The Post for an update,” Kostecka added. “The White House has yet to comment on the status of the Dodgers’ trip this season.”

As Trump recovers from a harsh welcome during his latest high-profile sports moment, perhaps the Dodgers are rethinking those plans. In any case, a large segment of their fanbase would welcome their decision to skip a White House visit this year.
