TelevisaUnivision unveiled its 2026-27 programming slate on Tuesday, May 12, in New York City, with 10 new novelas, an expanding streaming platform and a Super Bowl deal leading the way.

Among the highlights, a surprise: legendary host Don Francisco is returning to Univision, more than 10 years after the network canceled his long-running Sábado Gigante.

Under the banner “We Get Hispanics,” TelevisaUnivision made its case to advertisers with a broad strategy spanning scripted originals, unscripted and vertical formats, music, tentpole events and an expanding sports portfolio.

Sports: Super Bowl, New Rights and Year-Round Soccer

The company secured first-ever rights to CONMEBOL Libertadores and CONMEBOL Sudamericana, renewed CONCACAF’s Gold Cup and Nations League, and extended its Mexican National Team deal through 2034.

TelevisaUnivision also struck partnership deals that will bring two major events to Univision: Super Bowl LXI in 2027 under a sublicensing agreement with ESPN, and the Formula 1 Las Vegas Grand Prix this November in partnership with Apple.

Additionally, it is also teaming up with YouTube star MrBeast for a creator-driven event tied to the Gold Cup, a sign of TelevisaUnivision’s push to reach younger audiences.

Streaming: ViX Expands Features and Short-Form Content

Spanish-language streaming service ViX will roll out new features this summer, including DVR functionality, live game pause, rapid recaps and multi-screen viewing.

Building on the breakout success of ViX MicrOs, the company plans to produce more than 100 new short-form vertical titles in 2026. The platform, which launched quietly in July 2025, has already surpassed one billion views with 48% quarter-over-quarter viewer growth.

In an interview earlier this year, Rafael Urbina, president of streaming and digital, stressed those numbers show the microdrama strategy is working and signal an “opportunity to become a multimillion-dollar business at scale.”
