It probably won’t be long before Drake claims the most No. 1 hits on every Billboard chart. He has already scored more leaders than most artists – in some instances by a huge margin – on most of the hip-hop and rap tallies. Known as one of the most prolific stars in the music industry, Drake churns out music faster than many of the biggest figures in the business, and more often than not, when he shares new music, it climbs to No. 1 on at least one tally (and usually several).
Earlier this year, Drake delivered three albums at once, and the projects Iceman, Maid of Honour and Habibti were packed with dozens of songs. Several of those tracks have become radio hits, and on Billboard‘s Rhythmic Airplay chart, Drake is only competing with himself at the moment.
Drake Rules With “Janice STFU”
Last week, “Janice STFU,” the biggest smash from all three of Drake’s recently-shared albums, rose to No. 1 on the Rhythmic Airplay chart. The tally ranks the most-heard cuts on radio stations throughout the United States that focus on rhythmic music, which is something of a hybrid between hip-hop and R&B, and which at times can also include other styles as well. “Janice STFU” became Drake’s forty-fourth commander last period.
Drake Blocks Himself from a New No. 1 Hit
This time around, Drake blocks himself from earning yet another ruler. As “Janice STFU” holds atop the Rhythmic Airplay chart for a second consecutive frame, “2 Hard 4 the Radio” nearly conquers the roster. That song, which somewhat ironically has become one of the biggest radio hits from Iceman, steps up from No. 5 to No. 2. In the coming weeks, it may very well become a milestone forty-fifth leader for the Canadian hip-hop musician – if “Janice STFU” will ever relent.
Drake Claims More No. 1s Than Any Artist
It’s been years since Drake made history by earning the most No. 1s in the history of the Rhythmic Airplay chart. It’s entirely possible that no other artist will ever catch up, as at the moment, nobody is even close.
Rihanna, who amazingly shares four No. 1s with Drake on the Rhythmic Airplay tally, sits in second place on the all-time ranking of the artists with the most rulers, with just 17. That’s fewer than half as many as her frequent collaborator. The two superstars topped the rundown together with “Take Care,” “Too Good,” “What’s My Name?” and “Work,” all of which led the charge for at least half a dozen frames.
Drake Charts Three Hits This Week on the Radio Tally
Drake fills three spaces on the current edition of the Rhythmic Airplay chart, which includes 40 rungs. As “Janice STFU” and “2 Hard 4 the Radio” occupy the loftiest spaces, another Iceman smash, “Shabang,” grows in stature. “Shabang” leaps from No. 26 to No. 18, which is a new peak for the cut.
Drake Has Scored 80 Top 10s
Most artists would dream of scoring as many hits on the Rhythmic Airplay chart as Drake claims No. 1s – and his career totals when looking at the rest of the tally are even more impressive. Drake has reached the top 10 with 80 compositions, and 139 songs by the Grammy winner have spent at least one frame on the roster.
