In several instances, the Canadian superstar manages to unseat his rival Kendrick Lamar, who has been ruling some of the most important hip-hop and rap lists for months with what has turned out to be a historic win.
Drake Replaces Kendrick Lamar at No. 1
“What Did I Miss?” opens at No. 1 on both the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs and Hot Rap Songs charts. Those tallies use a methodology that blends sales, streams, and radio airplay to rank the most consumed tracks in those genres throughout the country. This week, that honor belongs to the latest from Drake.
Last frame, Kendrick Lamar ruled both the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs and Hot Rap Songs rankings with “Luther,” one of his collaborations with friend SZA. The tune extended its reign as the longest-running leader on both tallies, earning a twenty-eighth stay in the penthouse. Drake, who publicly feuded with Lamar in 2024, beats the record-setting tune as “What Did I Miss?” conquers the two rosters.
Drake Makes Up for His Recent Near-Miss
The arrival of “What Did I Miss?” at No. 1 must be exciting for Drake. He has reached the summit many times before, but only recently he failed to best Lamar and SZA’s “Luther” with “Nokia,” the standout smash from Drake’s recent album Some Sexy Songs for You. The single stalled in the runner-up spot on both the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs and Hot Rap Songs rankings, as well as the Hot 100.

Drake scores his thirty-first No. 1 on both of the general consumption lists. He’s now reached the top 10 a staggering 139 times on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs tally and 142 times on the Hot Rap Songs list.
