Ed Sheeran Debuts On A Billboard Chart He’s Never Reached Before

Ed Sheeran is less than a year removed from the release of his latest album, Play. The full-length, his eighth, dropped in September 2025 months after he first began promoting it with lead single “Azizam.” Sheeran’s Play era was not nearly as successful as some of his previous ones, and neither the full-length nor any of the songs featured on its track list remain on even a single Billboard chart.

The English singer-songwriter, who recently left Atlantic Records, his longtime home, does appear on multiple tallies this week with a mix of older classics and a new win. Sheeran even manages to appear on a roster he’s never seen before, thanks to his latest collaboration.

Ed Sheeran Debuts on a Billboard Chart With “Repeat It”

Earlier this month, Sheeran teamed up with electronic dance producer Martin Garrix, and the two dropped “Repeat It.” After its first full tracking frame finished, that collaboration launches on two genre-specific lists in America. “Repeat It” opens highest on the Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart, where it begins its time at No. 4. As the cut arrives, Sheeran appears on the list for the first time in his career, breaking into the top 10 on his initial visit.

Ed Sheeran Scores Another Dance Sales Win

“Repeat It” helps Sheeran repeat his placements on the Dance Digital Song Sales chart. The tally differs from the Hot Dance/Electronic Songs roster in that only purchases, and just those made on platforms like iTunes, are included in the ranking’s methodology. The Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart, like all lists published by Billboard that begin with the word “Hot,” also takes into account streams and airplay. On the sales-focused register, “Repeat It” becomes Sheeran’s second career win as it launches at No. 12.

Ed Sheeran Reaches a New Career High

Sheeran is enjoying his biggest week yet on the Dance Digital Song Sales roster. Thanks to “Repeat It,” the tune brings him to a new career high. His only other hit, “Boa Me” by Fuse ODG and Mugeez, spent just one frame at No. 20 back in December 2017 before slipping away.

Martin Garrix Adds Yet Another Top 10

Unsurprisingly, Garrix has been far more successful than his studio partner. “Repeat It” earns him his milestone tenth top 10 on the Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart, and it ties with “Summer Days,” which also credits Macklemore and Fall Out Boy lead singer Patrick Stump, as his third-highest-rising smash. Only his own “Animals” and “In the Name of Love,” a nearly decade-old collaboration with Bebe Rexha, climbed even higher, as those two singles peaked at No. 3. Garrix is up to 18 top 10 bestsellers and 40 total appearances on the Dance Digital Song Sales chart.

Ed Sheeran Charts Two Classics Globally

“Repeat It” did not perform well enough to reach Billboard‘s worldwide lists, although two of Sheeran’s most familiar songs do land on those competitive charts. “Shape of You” comes in at No. 92 on the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. and No. 123 on the Billboard Global 200. “Perfect” similarly declines, settling at No. 143 on the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. and No. 175 on the entirely worldwide roster.

He manages to claim only one appearance on the Billboard 200 albums chart. +−=÷× (Tour Collection) falls more than 100 spaces, declining from No. 39 to No. 145 in one surprising tumble.
