Ella Langley’s “Choosin’ Texas” is the hit that simply will not quit. The country smash is now the longest-running No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 not only of 2026, but of the past year and a half.
The cut holds atop the most important songs ranking in the United States, which combines streaming activity, purchases and radio airplay to show what the country is listening to. As it leads once more, “Choosin’ Texas” joins one of the most exclusive clubs in the history of the Billboard Hot 100 and ties the most successful hit from another superstar.
Ella Langley Reaches 15 Weeks at No. 1
“Choosin’ Texas” holds at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 for a landmark fifteenth week. The track simultaneously celebrates its fortieth frame somewhere on the 100-position roster. Both figures mark firsts for Langley.

With 15 weeks at No. 1, “Choosin’ Texas” becomes one of only eight tracks to control the Billboard Hot 100 for that long. Langley ties Harry Styles’ “As It Was,” which also managed a 15-frame run in first place in 2022. That tune stands as the former One Direction singer’s most successful hit on the ranking by a wide margin.
Ella Langley Passes Seven Historic Hits
Only one frame ago, “Choosin’ Texas” was tied with seven songs that each spent 14 weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. By collecting its fifteenth period in charge, Langley’s hit breaks away from all of them and reorders the all-time rundown.
That group of 14-week champions includes Whitney Houston’s “I Will Always Love You,” Boyz II Men’s “I’ll Make Love to You” and Los del Río’s “Macarena (Bayside Boys Mix).” Elton John’s double single “Candle in the Wind 1997”/“Something About the Way You Look Tonight” also led the charge for 14 frames, as did Mariah Carey’s “We Belong Together,” the Black Eyed Peas’ “I Gotta Feeling” and “Uptown Funk” by Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars.
Ella Langley Could Tie Three More Smashes In Days
It seems likely that “Choosin’ Texas” will command the Billboard Hot 100 again next frame. Should the country blockbuster earn a sixteenth week at No. 1, it will move higher once more on the historical ranking.
Three songs have stepped aside after exactly 16 periods in charge: “One Sweet Day” by Mariah Carey and Boyz II Men, “Despacito” by Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee featuring Justin Bieber and Morgan Wallen’s “Last Night.” “One Sweet Day” achieved its 16-week run three decades ago, while both “Despacito” and “Last Night” reached the same total within the past decade.
Mariah Carey Still Holds the All-Time Record
Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You” remains the longest-running No. 1 in the history of the Billboard Hot 100. The holiday standard has accumulated 22 weeks in first place, though that total has been spread across seven years.
“All I Want for Christmas Is You” first reached No. 1 in 2019 and has returned to the peak position during every holiday season since. It most recently ruled in January of 2026, thanks to holdover streams, sales and airplay connected to the latest Christmas season.
Lil Nas X and Billy Ray Cyrus’ “Old Town Road” and Shaboozey’s “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” sit beneath Carey’s seasonal smash. Both tracks spent 19 weeks at No. 1, and they shared the all-time record at one point – until Carey’s yuletide carol dashed ahead for good.
Ella Langley Leads Four Billboard Rankings
In addition to ruling the Billboard Hot 100, “Choosin’ Texas” commands three other rosters in America this week. The single holds at No. 1 on the Streaming Songs, Hot Country Songs and Country Streaming Songs charts. It has now spent 40 weeks on all three rankings, just as it has on the main singles list.
