FC Barcelona has finalized the sale of Ferran Torres to Paris Saint-Germain according to SPORT and transfer market expert Fabrizio Romano, both citing anonymous sources

The final transfer fee is reportedly $56 million (€48.5 million) and not the previously quoted €50 million plus a further €5 million in variables.

That latter arrangement was widely talked about when it was reported that the two clubs in question had reached an agreement in principle a few days ago.

SPORT explains that there are no bonuses involved in the transfer. Yet still, FC Barça hasn’t done bad by recouping almost all of the €55 million it agreed to pay Manchester City for Ferran in 2021.

FC Barcelona Sporting Director Deco has done particularly good business considering Ferran was in the last 11 months of his contract, which was set to expire on June 30, 2027.

Had negotiations hit a brick wall, Ferran could have left for free next summer without Barça earning a penny in return.

At the Parc des Princes, he’ll be reunited with his former Spain boss Luis Enrique, who led the Catalans to their last Champions League title in 2015 at Lionel Messi’s peak.

Ferran leaves behind a complicated legacy at FC Barcelona

With three La Liga titles to his name, most players would be proud of Ferran’s seven-trophy haul at FC Barcelona.

Still, a return of 65 goals in 207 appearances could have been better, and it must be noted that many of these outings came off the bench standing in Robert Lewandowski’s shadow.

Many Culers felt put out by Ferran openly flirting with PSG when basking in his newfound fame as the scorer of Spain’s winning goal during the 2026 World Cup final.

With Torres someone that was never able to nail down the spot nor convince as FC Barcelona’s starting number 9, there was a feeling of merely wanting to bring in a reasonable fee for the 26-year-old and then focus on landing a worthy successor to Lewandowski such as Julian Alvarez.
