How Does Lebanon Factor Into U.S.-Iran Peace Talks Following Israel-Iran Strikes Over Beirut Attack?

There have been major developments in the Middle East that could have implications on negotiations between the United States and Iran. Hezbollah launched an attack against Israel, and Israel responded with what it said was a strike on a terrorist headquarters in Beirut. Iran, who has said it would not accept a peace agreement with the U.S. if Lebanon wasn’t included, launched a retaliatory strike against Israel. The IRGC told state media this was a “warning” and that it wouldn’t “tolerate any violation of the ceasefire or aggression against Lebanon.” Israel responded, and both sides then retaliated with another wave of attacks. On Monday morning, President Donald Trump posted to social media that “both sides, Israel and Iran, are looking to do an immediate ceasefire.” Dr. Jonathan Schanzer, executive director at the Foundation for Defense of Democracies, joined “Forbes Newsroom” to discuss.
