The NTT IndyCar Series first race after the 110th Indianapolis 500 had a boost in ratings for the Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix on FOX.

FOX’s IndyCar coverage from Detroit posted 1,167,000 viewers as Chip Ganassi Racing’s Alex Palou won a wild race on the streets of Detroit. That is up 10 percent over last year’s 1,061,000 average viewers for the Detroit race on FOX and up 15 percent vs. last year’s 1,012,000 viewers for the eighth race of the season from Gateway that aired in primetime on June 15, 2025.

“Sunday’s IndyCar race here in Detroit certainly had plenty of action on track and we’re excited to see a 10 percent increase in viewership year over year,” IndyCar owner and Chairman of the Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix Roger Penske told me. “The Detroit results build on the positive momentum from the Indianapolis 500, while continuing IndyCar’s strong second season working with our partners at FOX.”

More Growth Numbers From IndyCar At Detroit On Fox

The viewership from Detroit was up 35 percent over last year’s 867,000 average viewers for Sunday non-Indy 500 races on FOX.

It was the most-viewed IndyCar race from Detroit since returning to the single race format in 2022.

The Detroit race peaked with 1,524,000 viewers from 2:45-2:52 pm Eastern Time.

IndyCar NICS on FOX is averaging 2,241,000 viewers through 8 races, up 12 percent over last year’s average through 8 races (2,007,000) and good for the best start to an IndyCar season since the merger in 2008.

“As we continue to put effort into growing the series, it’s really exciting to see the viewers following along,” said Jacob Ullman, FOX Sports SVP Production & Talent Development. “Double-digit growth at Detroit is great to see and, with all eyes on FOX for the upcoming FIFA World Cup, FOX IndyCar coverage will get multiple unique opportunities to be introduced to large, new audiences over the next month.

“It’s an exciting time for everyone involved.”
