Some hustle and bustle outside of New York City’s famed Madison Square Garden arena this week—including National Guard activity and trucks rolling in with equipment—is exciting fans of billionaire pop star Taylor Swift, who is speculated to be marrying fiancé Travis Kelce at the venue this weekend.

Key Facts

A red carpet was briefly rolled out in front of Madison Square Garden on Tuesday afternoon, according to photos and video footage captured by Page Six, which an unnamed employee told the outlet is for an unspecified “wedding.”

Also on Tuesday, TMZ published video of what appears to be a large group of National Guard and New York City Police Department officers outside of the venue, where officers are reportedly expected to shut down streets this week.

Videos published by CBS News appear to show trucks rolling in with equipment covered by tarps, some of which are labeled “Garden Party 1 (scenic),” though it’s unclear what the labels mean.

what do we know about swift’s wedding?

Few concrete details about Swift’s wedding plans are known, but speculation has mounted in recent weeks that she will tie the knot with Kelce at Madison Square Garden. The New York Times confirmed Swift rented out the arena for this weekend, and although the couple has not confirmed they are holding wedding celebrations there, the Times reported they are planning an intimate gathering of 100 people on Thursday and a larger, 1,000-person event for Friday. Signs appear to be pointing to a wedding ceremony: The Times reported some of Kelce’s Kansas City Chiefs teammates have booked hotel rooms in the area, while Amtrak police officers who patrol Penn Station have been told to expect a Swift wedding. Swift, who began her highly publicized relationship with Kelce in 2023, announced in a post on Instagram in August she and Kelce had gotten engaged.

tangent

Prediction markets Polymarket and Kalshi have gone wild over the Swift-Kelce wedding, with users placing millions of dollars in bets on everything from who will be bridesmaids to which of the couple’s celebrity friends will be in attendance. Bettors seem to agree Abigail Anderson, Swift’s longtime friend who is mentioned in her song “Fifteen,” will be a bridesmaid, with famous friends Selena Gomez, Gigi Hadid and Este Haim also high in the betting odds. As for Kelce, leading odds to be his groomsmen include his brother Jason, Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes and Swift’s brother Austin. Some stars leading the odds to attend include producers Max Martin and Jack Antonoff, as well as singers Gracie Abrams, Phoebe Bridgers and Lana Del Rey.

forbes valuation

Forbes estimates Swift is worth $2 billion as of Tuesday. She’s the second-richest musician in the world, behind only Jay-Z, and she is the first person to make the Forbes billionaire ranks based solely on the value of her music catalog and concert tours. Swift was the second-highest earning musician of 2025, making an estimated $202 million amid the success of her latest album “The Life of a Showgirl,” which shattered album sales records in its first week.
